BUSINESS AT WORK ZAINAB GULZAR Contents Page Introduction. The organisation that I have chosen to base my assignment on is Asda. Excel Project - St. Dominic's Sixth Form College

Excel Project AVCE ICT UNIT 3 ANALYSIS Background to the organisation & problem: My project is based on a small business called BABU MOTOR MAINTANANCE (BMM). I have interviewed the owner and gained a lot of information on it. BABU MOTOR MAINTANANCE (BMM) is in Harrow. It is a private company. Its location is at a home in the central most part of Harrow (near the main shopping facilities). It has great potential considering it is based in a busy area. The business is not very big at the moment, but is due for expansion later on in the month. The business currently has about 60-70 customers. The founder of BABU MOTOR MAINTANANCE (BMM) was a man named Babu Vadgama. The current owner is Chagan Vadgama. I have chosen this Company because my dad has used them for his repairs, since they have started up. Since then we have got to know them. Even though Mr. Vadgama is the current owner and the investor of the company he is silent in the day to day running of the business. At the moment there are four members of staff in the business. Most of the work is done by the owner but others do help him for bigger or more complex jobs. These include the owner. His name is Chagan Vadgama. The assistant. His name is Tej Vadgama. IT Advertising Project- Bertrams Books

Identify The company that I will be basing my IT coursework around is Bertrams Books in Norwich. This is a large Book whole sale warehouse situated on Rosary Road, Norwich. As the company is now quite large and a very well known book whole sale warehouse I have chosen to enhance or create new methods of advertisement in order to increase the popularity of Bertrams and draw in more potential custom. Bertrams has a lot of clients in the Norwich area at the moment, therefore by enhancing or creating new advertisement methods I can hopefully increase the catchment area across the county and not just for the Norwich area itself. There are various methods I could use in order to advertise the company, I have chosen a few of these methods and given a brief description. As well as listing disadvantages and advantages of the specific methods. Then I can look over my various ideas and see which one of them I feel would be most effective for Bertrams Books. Web site - Bertrams books currently has it's own web page. Though enhancing it and creating extra features on it could have the potential to draw in extra custom. Maybe adding online ordering features to the site would be a sure way of attracting customers further afield. Improving the site layout may also make it easier for customers to find what they are looking for if the site was better organised. Other

Business qualitys

The aims of our coursework were to set up an ice cream company, run it and try to make it a success. Setting up a business- We did this well, 23 people set up a partnership. Everyone had had their own different job to carry out which they did well and the business was run to a good standard. And we met the aims of our coursework. Was the business a success?- Yes because we sold all our products which was the first sign of success we also made a very good NET profit which was 57% and the return capital was 150% these are both very high figures in fact much higher than a normal business, we would have made less in a normal savings account. We learnt a lot with this coursework for the future, we have seen business studies at work. We have applied knowledge of business studies to a practical task to see if it works. We have also learnt the importance of planning. We planned everything before hand which was top quality planning as the class discussed it. Researching- could have been better, however we didn't research our suppliers but we new lidl would have been the cheapest, we also didn't research the weather as it rained on the day of the sale this could have caused less sales even though we did sell all our stock. We did research both our locations and these were chosen carefully we observed how the other class chose their location and observed what the sales were like,

The Feasibility of Opening a Video Games Franchise in the Lurgan Area

Introduction The coursework that I have chosen to do is the feasibility of opening a video games franchise in the Lurgan area. I decided on this because I have a keen interest in video and PC games, and because I live in the Lurgan area and frequently buy games I felt that the current retailers in Lurgan do not tailor to the needs of the common gamer. I felt that I may not be the only person to feel this way, and that there was a great need for a better service to customers and that there maybe enough demand to sustain a new business. There are no stores in Lurgan that currently specialise in video games and because of this there may be a gap in the market, which would be very important for the success of the franchise. I chose to use a franchise to set-up in the Lurgan area as I felt that it was a quicker method, as it already has an established name nationally and internationally selling all over the globe. Electronic boutique is one of the most recognisable and trusted brand names in the interactive gaming industry. The franchise has enjoyed success and established themselves in countries such as USA, South Korea, Japan and Australia, showing that it is a symbol of quality that stretches across the language boundaries. They offer the customers wider ranges including video games and PC entertainment software, as well as video gam hardware, PC productivity software, PC

Marketing And The Business Environment - Business Cycles and Their Relevance to Business Organisations

Alan Shave Student No. 0367668 Assignment 1 Marketing And The Business Environment Business Cycles and Their Relevance to Business Organisations The business cycle is the name that is given to the pattern of changes in national income. Generally it is recognised that it is a result of variation in the total amount of spending in the economy or the quantity that is demanded. The spending in the economy changes for a few reasons. One is that alterations in Economic policy can cause swings in spending within the economy. Another is that the performance and confidence of financial markets can suddenly change from the lively to the depressed, meaning that consumer spending and savings suffer. Using appropriate data (Office Of National Statistics)(2001) I have created a graph and table showing the GDP and percentage growth of British Economy from 1980 to 2001. As both clearly show, the GDP has been fluctuating since 1980 and has been through a number of slumps and recoveries. Around 1980 -1981 when the data starts, it's apparent that the economy is experiencing a recession and slump. However around 1983 to 1988 a recovery begins and continues, creating an economic boom in 1989 and 1990. During the boom, the economy experienced high output and low unemployment but this also comes with high inflation. As often happens in the business cycle, this high inflation

what really is a business model anyway

e-Business Models Evaluation Kjel Gotberg EBUS 500.1 e-Business Principles and Practices University of Phoenix Online Facilitator: Professor Susan Brozas 29 September 2004 Abstract According to Richard Trambly, writer for Computer World Magazine, "An e-business model is an approach to conducting electronic business through which a company can sustain itself and generate profitable revenue growth. The business model spells out how a company plans to make money online and how it's competitively positioned in an industry." This paper will examine three websites that are geared to different populations. First, we will examine a business to business site (B2B), secondly a business to consumer (B2C) site and lastly a site for a non-profit agency. This paper will glance at the different models that each company is using and how they utilize their online presence to generate the offerings desired by their consumers. The increasing complexity of Internet and Web technologies and their rapid evolution are imposing a Herculean challenge for information technology managers. Tutor R Us - Creating an IT system.

INTRODUCTION Tutor R Us is a small business developed by Sarah Thomas and is located in Uxbridge Middlesex. The company is one and a half year old and was run at her home with only herself and secretary. The business is basically about recruiting tutors - particularly university students as well as qualified teachers, and placing them with students at different levels of their education for private tutoring. With the nature of the business the clientele has grown considerably and so a personal assistant had to be hired and an office had to be rented from which the business now has to be run. At the moment records are kept in an impeccable filing system. Because of the rapid growth of the business, Miss Thomas finds difficult to keep up that filing system. The tutors and client files are kept in a filing cabinet in chronological order while the contact details are kept in a carded system on the secretary's desk. Miss Thomas approached Mark Jacobs a computer consultant with this problem and asks our help to set up a system to carry out such task as recording clients (students) as well as employees (tutors) details, appointments details and subjects on offer. The system is to be linked with a word document containing the company's letterhead to use as a mail merge for correspondence to the clients (students) and employees (tutors).
