●1.0 Introduction

 1.1 Background

Watches are changing. They have already been no more time pieces in our grandparents’ mind. With the development of science and technology, watches trend to be multifunctional to meet customers’ different needs. The demands of such multifunctional watches haves never been greater than before, while the competition is becoming more fierce as new competitors enter and current ones increase their efforts. At such a challenge time, Home Theater Watch is coming.

◆1.2 General information about Home Theater Watch

The product is a watch-like MP4 player. It has a strong function of playing music and video, except a basic time piece function. When you feel boring waiting in the line, or want to kill time when having a trip, Home Theater Watch would be a good mate.

Although the watch has many functions like general MP4 players such as image viewing, voice recorder, playback, super bass and so on, it is easy to navigate menu system. What’s more, it has a large built-in storage up to 2GB. Also, you can enlarge the storage if you want. The screen is a stunningly LARGE 1.5 inches and features a brilliant 260K color display capability which can give you the experience of a home theater with the functionality of a watch (Skymall, 2007).

◆1.3 Target market

The Home Theater Watch targeted at young people from 15 to 40 years old such as white collars and students who or their families could afford the watch. The reason of setting this group to be the target market was that these people like to be up to date, interested in trying new products, enjoy life. And most of them are economic independent (MSN china, 2007).

The purpose of conducting this survey was for exploratory reason that judged the possibility of launching the new product, Home Theater Watch. To better understand customers’ needs and raise its competitive advantages, a group of students from SBC, USST conducted a survey in the local market. ●2.0 Methodology

◆2.1 Sampling methods

The research was conducted from December 23 the to December 25th 2007. This was carried out through the use of questionnaires. 125 questionnaires were completed. After the data collection and process, 123 of those are effective eventually. They were given out either at the internet or in the street. The samples were selected at random so that each member of the group had the equal chance of being chosen and the bias would not be introduced ( Hall,2003).
