Introduction

UNIT 3B ICT AND SOCIETY Off to work we go! Name of the adult Peter Alison Introduction In my assignment I am going to explain and describe the impact of that ICT has on my adults life in employment and at home. I would give detail on the way and why he uses ICT. Background My adult is the manager of seven Shell UK LTD sites, he manages all employee's and employer's and he has control of the finance and purchasing department as a job role in his position. For example, he uses a purchase order to order goods and services that he would like to purchase and receive an invoice giving him a list of products that was ordered, he would make sure that it is correct, once he is certain its correct and not damaged then finally he would send a check to their suppliers. Video messaging is the new way to communicate with pictures rather than just words. Each phone camera is fitted with a camera, which takes images of whatever your phone is focused on a sends them to another phone, this picture outputs on their screen. This does not have an impact upon my life, but it is very useful for those who need to contact friends, or conference with other businesspeople when they do not have access to a computer. Music Players My adult also uses music players nowadays come in 2 main types, CD players and MP3 players, tape players are still around but are becoming less and less commonly used. CD players are an extraordinarily precise piece of equipment, finding and reading the data found on the small bumps of a CD. You can see an example of a CD player mechanism on the right hand side. Conclusion

My adult prefers to use an interactive whiteboard so that it also allow him to easily put information on to and faster and the most important that it saves time which this allows him to complete other task. An interactive whiteboard allows my adult to make any corrections instead of re-writing out all information all over again on a paper based system and also if there is any information not included then he would be able to allow a regular update. Changes in the Workplace How has ICT caused my adult work and their workplace to change since my adult has worked there ? For my adult ICT has had a dramatic change in his particular position as being in-control of the finance and purchasing departments. It has lead him to a effectively and efficiently working conditions. It has saved a lot of time and saving time in a business leads to a greater producing production and sales increase. Since my adult has been presently being manager at Shell UK LTD advanced technology has boosted up sales and production and for the result for Shell UK LTD this leads to a greater job satisfaction and greater working environment.
