Business SMART targets

M1: Demonstrate how to manage the SMART targets set out in your career plan. SMART targets provide a clear outline of what needs to be done and how the outcome will be assessed. S - Specific target meaning I have set myself a specific target and aim which is after choosing university I would be studying business management, as I know after college I still would want to carry on with business further in the future. If I haven't set a Specific target then this would mean I wouldn't know what to do and if I have chosen a different course and it didn't benefit me in the future it would be no use as I would be wasting my time so it's vital that I know what I want to do for my career. M - Measurable, achieving targets which are being recorded and also checked regularly. As I set myself of having 100% attendance and punctuality as it would help me at university and look good on my UCAS profile as they would take me serious and know I am keen to study everyday without taking a day off as they take attendance and punctuality very seriously. I would make sure I wake up early for my lessons and come in college before 10mins registration so I would have time to get everything sorted before the lesson starts and also coming into college everyday which would improve my attendance. If I do not monitor my attendance then this would affect me as they might not take me in as my attendance

Evaluation of chosen career path

Task 9: I will know evaluate the suitability of my chosen career (secondary school ICT teacher) as well as the route I am going to take to achieve this. I have chosen to work within the teaching sector, working as a secondary school ICT teacher, as I have a passion for teaching which means I would be motivated to come into work every day and teach. Helping students to get their required qualifications, will give me a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. Another reason why I have chosen this sector over the others is because my career test showed that this sector was the most suitable for me as it was ranked the highest with 99%. I think this sector is most suitable for me as I have chosen ICT at GCSE as well as A level. I am also very interested in computers and ICT which would mean I would enjoy teaching ICT and secondary school. I have not chosen do work in the other two mentioned pathways. The reason for this is because the healthcare sector requires roughly 15 years at university. I know that I won't be able to stay at university as I will get bored at my debts will increase immensely. Another reason for this is because it requires more qualification than I have; a science course have to be chosen at college/6th form and I have taken these courses. Similarly, I have not chosen to enter in the public service sector because I find the job is more physically

Control Mechanisms

Control Mechanisms Carl R. Foster MGT 330 December 2, 2008 Linda Fisher-Lewis University of Phoenix Control Mechanisms Identify four types of control mechanisms used in Unity/TBS Couriers. Compare and contrast these control mechanisms, and determine the effectiveness of these control mechanisms. Also, examine the positive and negative reactions to the use of these controls, and explain how these controls impact the four functions of management. Organizational, business and individual systems developed by a corporation whether applicable company wide or tailored to a specific segment of the corporation are considered control mechanisms. These mechanisms are elemental forces crucial in keeping a company focused on its progress and performance. Control mechanisms are ways "to seek compliance with established plans, standards, quality criteria, and in conformance with organizational goals and values. Control mechanisms are both enabling and constraining." (Malhotra, 1997). The steps to designing control mechanisms are to establish performance standards, measure performance against standards, leading to motivating and stimulating those both beneath and above into high performance through communication and example. Controlling monitors performance and implements necessary changes that need to be made. Control mechanisms allow management to keep profits high. Control

Thomas Capozzoli wrote, in Conflict Resolution - A Key Ingredient in Successful Teams, ".

Article Summary Thomas Capozzoli wrote, in Conflict Resolution - A Key Ingredient in Successful Teams, "although many people and organizations view conflict as an activity that is usually negative and should be avoided, conflict is a natural result of people working together" (Capozzoli 14). Capozzoli agrees with many other writers concerning the team concept, in which people tend to disagree from time to time. Conflict disrupts situations when the members of the group are unable to manage the situation correctly. When members of a group are unable to communicate, then the possibility of a productive outcome will drastically decline. Capozzoli attempts to educate team members with the knowledge of conflict resolution. The ability to understand the nature of a conflict, its causes, and resolution strategies will allow individuals to handle their situations in a positive manner. In its simplicity, conflict is not visible until people make it so by arguing or fighting. The ability of people to manage and resolve the conflict determines whether the conflict is destined to be destructive or constructive. How, considering the management of the conflict, does the team or team members react regarding the effects of the conflict, whether positively or negatively? If effectively managed, conflict affects the team positively by means of individual and group gains. Conflict
