Company Law Coursework. "Companies whose standards of corporate governance are high are the more likely to gain the confidence of investors and support for the development of their businesses". (Report of the committee on the Financial Aspects of Corporate Governance - Cadbury Committee Report (Para 1.6) In the light of this statement discuss the relationship that exists in the UK between the legal rules that govern directors' duties and principles of corporate governance. Corporate governance is a very wide topic area it does not have one set definition its literal meaning is that of united group control however it's a much wider subject area. Corporate governance covers a wide range of issues from the role of the company secretary and legal department, to the business strategy, the roles of the executive and non-executive directors, the relationship between investors and companies and accounting and information systems. A corporate governance structure should set guidelines as to how responsibilities are distributed throughout the company it should also give guidelines on the decision making process. It should structure the way in which objectives are met and monitor the progress in meeting such objectives. Companies need to maintain a good corporate governance structure to ensure that they are efficiently run. Good governance could be seen more as a mentality than an

What is Visual Programming

Ricki Lambert Visual Programming Assignment 1 P1 Task 1 Introduction It's very important to remember that there is always more than one choice to make when considering what programming language to sue. They all have their own properties and specific suitability for given tasks. Below is a list of the differing programming languages that offer object orientated programming (OOP) in a visual environment. * Java swing * Visual Java AWT (abstract window toolkit) - this allows applets and this can be embedded into web pages * Visual basic VB * Visual Basic.net framework - VB.NET * C# * Visual C++ * Delphi * ASP.Net As there are too many languages to consider I shall be looking at the controls of only a few of them. They will be the controls for Java swing and AWT, VB.Net (using visual studio) and C#. Unit 2b (ICT in an organisation) Report on ICT system used in a department In this assignment I am going to investigate the purpose for which an organisation uses ICT. The company that I am going to review is called Chessington World of Adventures. I will also write about the ICT systems used in one department that I have written about in unit 2a. I will write about the marketing department and explain devices they use etc. In the marketing department they use many different types of computers for many different things. Some staff will use their computers for typing long documents or letters; others may use them for creating PowerPoint presentations for various things. In most organisations people will use their computers or a choice of devices for similar things, but this isn't the case in Chessington. Proposed Hardware and Software for a Computer Aided Design Company There are several pieces of computer equipment a design company would need to function efficiently. Firstly they would need the correct input and output devices. To input the data a computer and mouse would be needed, these are standard input devices. The company would perhaps benefit from the use of a light pen rather than a mouse, though this would depend greatly on the software packages they would be using. Another input device that may be useful to the company would be a Graphics Tablet or Digitiser.

Optical Fibers

Optical Fibers are glass fibers usually about 120 micrometers in diameter that are used to deliver wave signals in the form of pulses of light over distances up to 50 km without the using repeaters. These wave signals may be coded voice communications or computer data. Fiber optic communications is dependent on the principle that light in a glass medium can carry more information over longer distances than electrical signals can carry in a copper or coaxial medium. The purity of today's glass fiber mixed with advance electronics system allows fiber to transmit digitized light signals well beyond 100 km without amplification. Optical fiber is an ideal transmission medium with few transmission losses, low interference and high bandwidth potential. How Fiber Works The working of an optical fiber is dependent on the principle of total internal reflection. Light reflects or refracts based on the angle at which it strikes a surface. This principle is at the center of how optical fiber works. Restricting the angle at which the light waves are delivered makes it possible to control how efficiently they reach their destination. Light waves are covered with the core of the optical fiber in much the same way that radio frequency signals are covered with coaxial cable. The light waves are directed to the other end of the fiber by being reflected within the core. The creation of the
