Develop a system for use by a fitness centre to store and organise the company's administration details such as membership, subscription payments and use of facilities.

Introduction Riverside Ice and Leisure provides a focus for leisure in Chelmsford with a range of facilities that is both unique and extensive. The Centre's upper deck houses the area's only ice rink; whilst the lower deck offers three swimming pools with an exciting flume ride, a multipurpose sports hall catering for everything from badminton, aerobics and six-a-side football to major exhibitions. There are also two squash courts, an indoor adventure playground for children a crèche, a fully air-conditioned gym, adjacent to the lower restaurant & licensed bar. Riverside leisure centre is located on the riverside industrial park. Problem Statement My task is to develop a system for use by a fitness centre to store and organise the company's administration details such as membership, subscription payments and use of facilities. This system will need to store data on customer payments and bookings as well as sending out letters to members about meetings and forthcoming events. Therefore this system could also be used to produce session timetables and print records for customers. The current system is a paper based filing system that has many restrictions that must be overcome by the introduction of an improved data capture and storage method. Below I have listed the following key details that must be addressed by the new system: ID number Each field in the system will

Unit 35: Impact Of The Use Of IT On Business Systems Task 2 - Implementing New Technology In To A Business Part 1, 2 & 3 Ben Price 0/15/2009 Part 1- Changes That Organisations Have Had To Make To Their Activities and Performances due to New Technology 2 Activities 2 Performance 4 Part 2 - How Employees and Employers are Affected by Changes in IT 6 Part 3 - How Organizations Can Manage Risks When Using New Technology 8 Cyber Crime 8 Security Measures 9 Part 1- Changes That Organisations Have Had To Make To Their Activities and Performances due to New Technology Activities Organisations have to adapt their activities to promote their products and acquisition of products and other businesses. Adapting Sales and Marketing Strategies Some organisations are now changing the way that they market and sell their products to show their developments in IT. Organisations can now market their product by showing it on search engine results, this is a cheaper way in marketing their product world wide but it might be hard getting the top spot on a search results page. Business deals can not only be by the phone where people have to be employed, it can now be done by email, over the internet, conferences and video calls. This will allow the organisation to get the product quicker and will generate more business from abroad. This can also reduce the price of the

Hardware and Functions of a Micro Processor

Ricki Lambert Computer Systems M2 Introduction In this assignment I have been asked to describe, with the aid of diagrams, the hardware (including logic gates, registers, buses, CU, ALU and memory) and its function within a model microprocessor. Firstly it is important to understand the basics of a microprocessor and outline what its main functions are to be. A microprocessor is known as a central processing unit, the CPU and is madder from silicon to produce an electronic chip. The components of the CP are vast and they shall be outlined in further detail throughout. A processor can be through of as the heart of any computer and will control the logic of almost any digital device; this can be within any household component, not just a personal computer. There are three characteristics of any computer and they are; * The instruction set - This is the collection of instructions in the assembly language. Whenever an instruction is developed, the new instruction is chosen at random from the instruction set (with all instructions given an equal probability of being selected). * Bandwidth - The number of bits processed into a single instruction * Clock speed - This is the frequency that determines how fast devices that are connected to the bus system operate To make the system / processor faster we can do two things, increase the bandwidth and increase the clock speed.

The concept of formal specification

The concept of formal specification A specification must describe what must be done, and not how to do it. A formal specification is a specification written in a formal SL, i.e. a language that uses mathematical notations. An informal specification is a S written in a natural language, which is often ambiguous. A FS has four components: name, vocabulary, syntax, and semantics. Good specifications must have the following characteristics: formality, extensibility, comprehensability, constructability, testability, minimality, and wide range of applicability. Extensibility means the possibility to easy modify the specification during the maintanance of the product; small changes in the requirements must result in small changes in specification. Comprehensability means the possibility to reconstruct the meaning of the specified thing Constructability is the possibility to construct a specification without much difficulty. Minimality means to describe the important properties and to ignore the irelevant details. Types of specifications . Approaches: - model-based; - property based. 2. Types - Using a Fixed Discipline (a Mathematical D.) Earley uses graphs for describing various data structures. Othyers uses sets. - Using an Arbitrary Discipline. - Using s State Machine Model - Using Axiomatic Descriptions (Hoare) - Using Algebraic Definitions Conventional

A computer system consists of two parts: hardware and software

ICT A computer system consists of two parts: hardware and software Software is the name given to the programs, which enable the computer to do a useful task. Devices used to get data from the outside world into the computer are called input devices. Peripheral devices are devices that are connected to the computer and under the control of the computer. The commonest input device that comes with all computers is the keyboard. A mouse is used to move a pointer or cursor around the screen and to make selections. Where space is restricted, such as on a laptop, a touch pad is used instead of a mouse. A joystick is used primarily with games software. With a voice recognition system a microphone is used as the input device. The input device used to scan in text and images is called a scanner. Cameras that can transfer an image directly to a computer are called digital cameras. A pen-like device used to draw or write on a tablet is called a digitiser Quantities such as temperature and pressure can be detected and measured using sensors. Printers and plotters are examples of output devices. The type of printer that produces the highest print quality print and uses a toner cartridge is called a laser printer. A cheaper printer, which squirts a jet of ink at the paper is called ink-jet printer. There are two types of memory: one retains data when the power is removed

To specify different types of software for 3 different systems

Software Task. My task is to specify different types of software for 3 different systems. Software comes on disks. You can't physically touch software. Software fits into two main categories. * Operating systems (o/s) * Applications (apps) The operating system is the first thing that is loaded when the computer is turned on. All programs have to talk to the o/s. All desktop computers need an operating system. The main things that the system software does is: * It manages the hardware and software resources of the computer system. These resources include things like CPU, memory, * It provides a suitable consistence way of applications to deal with hardware without having to know the details of the hardware. * To make it easier to run user programs * To improve the performance of the computer system * To provide assistance with program development * To simplify the use of the computer system for users other than computer specialists. Operating systems fit into four main categories: Real time operating system - These systems are used to control machinery, scientific instruments and industrial systems. This type of system has very little user interface capabilities. A very importance part of an RTOS is managing the resources of a computer so particular operations carry out in exactly the same amount of every time it occurs. In a complex machine, having a part

Create a spreadsheet, which quick and easily adds up the points into a table just by typing the finishing positions into one of the sheets.

Major project Introduction For the last 6 years I have been driving karts in the national championship, I have moved up through the junior ranks and am now into my last year of junior karting at the highest level of 100cc J.I.C.A. racing before moving into the senior karting classes next year. I have noticed that although the results for each race are recorded off transponders, arranging them into points and championship order can be very slow and in accurate. I plan to create a spreadsheet, which quick and easily adds up the points into a table just by typing the finishing positions into one of the sheets. The system will automatically change the scores for points and place them into a table with points order. I will be able to broadcast this onto the Internet with a site I shall create. I will then ask people who want the scores to each event to sign up, they will then be added to a mailing list and will have the results posted to them each time they are amended. I could also use this site to advertise for some sponsors. If enough people where to visit I think it would be worth wile the sponsors advertising on my site. Analysis For me to be able to analyse each task successfully I will have to read the booklet carefully deciding what the tasks are, that I need to analyse and how many of the tasks there are. There of course many small problems which go together to make

A computerized system for school - Hardware and software.

In this section, I have listed out all the software and hardware that I find appropriate and plan to use. This section also contains my data collection through my observation and my two interviews with a teacher and an accountant. You will see how the data flows from one place to another and you will also see my plan on how to use a computerized system for this school as well as my backing storage plan. SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION For the manipulation of text-based document, I prefer to use an application program called MICROSOFT WORD. Modifications, such as deleting, inserting, rewording etc. can be done to any document. Document formatting; such as font changing, page layout, and paragraph indentation can come in very handy. For example, when sending letters of complaints to the parents of some student, the content has to be the same but the name to which it is to be sent has to be changed. Instead of changing it by erasing the name and putting another, we can simply use a function called MAIL MERGE. This will make the job faster. But then I would prefer not to use it for mathematical calculations since it cannot calculate automatically. So for tasks, such as making an income statement, I would not use Ms Word. For the storage of restricted files and documents, I would suggest a database program called MICROSOFT ACCESS. This program is designed for easy access to authorized

Directory structures or how to link to files in other folders!

Directory Structures Or How to link to files in other folders! A directory or folder is a method of grouping files, or other folders, together on your computer. An example of a folder that you may have come across is the My Documents folder, which you can find on the desktop. You can create new folders opening the My Documents folder, double click on the icon on your desktop. Once open move the mouse pointer to any free part of the white background and press the right mouse button. This will launch a popup similar to the one below. Now you have your files stored in the folder you need a way to access them in your HTML code. There is a standard system used on computer systems to do this. To access a file stored in the same directory you can simply put the name of the file (including the file extension .gif, .jpg, etc.) So assuming we wanted to link to an image called myimage.gif which is stored in the same folder as our HTML code (in My Documents for example) we could use the following line: <img src="myimage.gif"> Note : remember the src stands for SouRCe As you might imagine storing all your HTML and graphics files in the same directory is not a great idea. Its fine if you only have a few files but any more and you can soon get lost or confused. So it is always a good idea to store your images in a separate folder. So lets say we create a new folder inside the My
