It’s a decent park with the usual needs. But not enough facilities for pet owners where there is a limited supply to dog bins and I walk more than 10 dogs a day.
Survey #5

Survey #8
Not sure, I’m not a regular at this park, but from what I’ve seen, it’s not the greatest park. Allot of drinkers and smokers. Not suitable for families.
Survey #9
A fine park, many pet walkers so animals wont get lonely and can meet other animals and also there is enough space for the animal to do their stuff.
Survey #10
This park is pretty good, better than most parks I’ve seen.
Survey #11
This park isn’t that great, recommended from a friend and I’m a bit disappointed in the state of the park the amount of drinkers. Plenty of pet walkers. Apart from that, it’s a terrible park.
Survey #12
This is my first time coming here. But seem pretty good, will come again. Friendly people and plenty of space.
Survey #13
The park is fine, i had no trouble at all, been here for over 15 years, a decent, great community park.
Survey #14
There’s countless problems, the pavement has allot of cracks which is not suitable for walking, not enough bins for dog wastes, too much drinkers, and to noisy. Not a great park.
Survey #15
The park is not the greatest but it’s the closest to where i live. The park should open at night so i can walk the dog at any time of the day. Not many facilities for the dog to play on so you should increase the facilities in the park.
Survey #16
It’s a decent park where there is plenty of space for my dog to run freely, however, the only thing that concerns me is the community where there is allot of drinkers where it shows the worst of the community in this park.
Survey #17
Not enough facilities, I have plenty of dog that use the park on daily basis and they should increase on the facilities in this park. Not enough bins and too much drinkers.
Survey #18
To open at night because my dog crave for a walk
It’s a fine park, no problem at all, just enough bins for waste. However, the bins are always filled up so not enough to fill sometimes. However, I do wish for the party to open at night because my dog crave for a walk
Survey #19
Pretty clean, however not enough public usage such as bins where i can dispose of the waste product my dog drops. But overall, it’s fine.
Survey #20
The park is easily accessible, however, just a few drinkers but the community is lovely. Nice to walk my dog.
Task 3 (M2, D2)
Quantative Data Result
Recommendation:
Chestnut Park is a community park where local resident can enjoy, relax and experience the greatness of the park. It was initially designed for families where they can enjoy the greenness.. However, due to high popularity of resident having pet dog/s, it is best to accommodate more improvement and facilities for pet animals where the owner and the pet can also enjoy.
Firstly, the local resident has given a 35% majority to where they feel that this local park feels safe. This is a low result, therefore it is necessary into improving on the safety of the park where if not, it may affect the physical and psychological being of a person. It is not right for a citizen to fear a public area; therefore, more security needs to be enforced. What I will recommend will be that to increase the community police into patrolling the public park where casual patrols being carried out once every hour or less. This will enforce no trouble maker will disturb the peace within the park. Also, due to a high population of animal usage at the park, public may have a fear of dogs (irrational fear) so it is not best to let the animal run free in public area of the park. It is best to design and build a new area where animal owner can take their pets.
Next, the result had shown a 45% response “yes” to the question do you think the park is clean enough. That is just below average. Because of this reason, small improvement is necessary. Many waste can be from food packaging, falling leafs or even animal wastes. The community needs to be responsible for their food waste or animal waste and should dispose all waste before leaving the premises. Because many people do not dispose of their wastes, it is best to enforce a law of a fine up to £250 if failed to dispose of rubbish and waste products. For the park, we will increase the amount of bins for both public use and animal waste disposal. Therefore, this will ensure there is no excuse from the public. In addition, it is best to have regular cleaner at the park where they can manage the park into clearing fallen leafs.
Next, the public had an even ratio to the question of whether they wish the park stayed open later. Because of this, we will not increase the time of the park, as it is not necessary. The park has enough time from morning to night where increasing the park may cost a lot more. This then will require additional patrol and not much people will use the park at a later hour.
The survey had showed there is a 55% of “yes” too is there enough dog waste bins in the park. This is above average so it shows the amount of bin is acceptable. However, due to high population of animal owners, the pet excrete much more then the bins can hold. Due to this, it is best to increase the size of the dog waste bin where more can be disposed of.
As this is a family and animal owner park, the public dislike the image of a drinker being at the park. For this reason, we can try to stop people from drinking by placing more health signs at the park benches. Health signs such as explaining drinking damages health and more. By doing this, this may let people think and reduce the amount of drinkers at the park and help people health.
Where I had been researching the park, I can see the pavement is fairly damage having many cracks and bumps. It is not comfortable to walk on. Many children or elderly can not notice and trip over the cracks and causing injuries. To prevent this, and mostly in the long term for the NHS, it is best to replace a new flooring into which could also improve on the parks image.
The community in this park is not positive having a 55% of dislikes. Majority of the vote came directly through the reason of having too much drinkers at the park. However, the other 45% of the vote came directly through the reason of people that uses the park where they believe everyone is friendly. To improve upon this image, we should create a area directly suitable for drinkers so which they wont disturb the public.
Recommendation Report:
By letting community police patrolling the park, this will allow less chance of disturbance and becoming much safer to use the park. It will remove most troublemakers knowing police patrol that area so it will become a more safe and friendly place for the public to enjoy.
The other concern is the high population of animals at the park. By building a new area directly for the pet animals, it can be fully designed to give the essential facilities the pet needs to enjoy, ie; obstacles. This then will allow more space for regular users and family to enjoy the open space.
By enforcing a £250 fine at the park by not disposing the rubbish and waste product properly, it will ensure people to clean after themselves so it will keep the park clean. By also increasing the size of the bins, this will let people to dispose much more so there will be less waste in the park. This then will have a much cleaner park for people to enjoy.
If increasing the time of the park for public to use, the government will be spending a lot more money where providing electricity for light, patrol extra hours, and having the park keeper to close the park at a later time. This will be a problem in the long term. The park has good time management where it gives enough time for people to enjoy so it is not necessary to increase the time for a small population who wish to use an extra hour or so. In addition, people tends to not use park at night due to many cases of crime happening at parks. So increasing the time at the park will not benefit much for the community.
There are enough bins at the park, having a good survey result to reflect this. However, it is best to increase the bin size to ensure more space is available to dispose of waste product by the animals. This will help keep the park clean and having a good hygiene so waste product and food packaging will not build up at the public ground.
We cannot remove the drinkers from the park but we can influence them from drinking as much so it may slowly but gradually reduce and maybe completely remove drinkers from the park. By adding health-warning signs about the dangers of alcohol by complying the harm it does to the body, it may let people think twice before drinking the alcohol.
Applying a new layering of flooring will reduce the risk in the long term. Cracks and bumps on the floor may not be seen easily by children and especially elderly. By having new flooring, it is more comfortable and free from any cracks that may be easily tripped over. If injured, it will take time of NHS and removes the person from society for a short time.
Having a space directly for the drinker can improve upon the parks image but the chances of the drinker going to the suggested area is very low. Drinkers also enjoy the scenery of the park where they can watch animals and youth having fun. So having an area for drinker is a great idea only when drinkers go to the area allocated for them.
