Interactive web means the web will no longer be passive therefor making it dynamic by introducing social networking sites like Twitter for sharing. An example of this is the RSS feed of Web 2.0. Web 2.0 is a comprehensive term it is not limited to RSS and other types but it is the most common use for them. In this report I will define them and give an example. Social networking sites are one of the most used sites on the internet. Social networking sites are Facebook, Twitter and others. The things all these websites have in common are that they allow you to communicate with friends and family across the Internet. There is a way that someone can create a community on the internet, once that has been done you can share a variety of things with people. Blogs are basically web logs. They are posted as entries/statuses for people to read them on your own blog. The ways they are ordered are new at the top and old at the bottom. This is done so that it shows the blog of agendas. Blogs are usually created with the actual help of a blogging website. You are given your own address/domain name under the website then that allows you to customise your blog by adding all sorts of media. Examples of blogging sites are the well-known

How ICT impacts on me

Ines Chan 12ASDICT MC How ICT impacts on me (400+) ________________ Nowadays, ICT has changed the world so much on everything. However, there are still some good and bad points about it. I think ICT impacts me a lot since I first used a computer. It made my life happier but as well as distracting me too much sometimes. When I first used a computer, I was about 8 or 9; it was a must because we all had computer lessons since primary 3 until year 7. Email was the only major thing that made me use computers. By the time goes by, I am getting older, I was told by my younger cousin to play computer games on the internet. Since then, I used computer every day. My mum saw this then she set me a do’s list and a don’ts list. She thought that I was too addicted to the internet for some reason. This probably is one of the handicaps of how ICT impacts on me. On the other hand, teachers taught us how to use email on the internet since we were small, that leaded me communicating with my school friends during holiday. I thought this was very easy for us; we did not have to ring each other very frequently, we could simply send emails. However, we did not use it too appropriately. As the technology is growing year by year, now I know what exactly computers or anything related to ICT help us and influence us. Say about the online banking nowadays, customers will receive a little

Discuss the impacts on medicine of ICT

Ines Chan Discuss the impacts on medicine of ICT ________________ It has been a huge impact on medicine with the aide of ICT. The impact on medicine has mainly two areas: treatment and administration. The changes on administration enables the staff to get access to patients’ notes, treatment records and information, possibly latest research too. The staff can also create care plans, patients’ drugs lists, drug research and drug records, effectively. These can all be done by using computers. For example, Electronic Patient Record Keeper (EPR) enables staff to keep records of a patient on the computer easily. Data and information on the EPR can be stored quickly within a number of staff, or with the entire hospital staff. This helps conveying information without having the worries of misunderstanding or illegible writing. With EPR, font style is pre-set and everyone should be able to understand. Regards to treatment improvement of ICT, there is a number of devices used affects the way how patients are treated. With the use of sensors, it scans body tissues of human. This is ideal to be used to detect blood clot tumours and fractures in the body. For example, a patient may have got muscles infection. The sensor will be able to check any infection within the body including the brain, muscles and soft tissues. There is another device called blood barcoding which aims to

Discuss the impact of ICT on cinema and entertainment systems that could be used in the hall.

Ines Chan The committee want to use the hall as a cinema and entertainment centre. ________________ Discuss the impact of ICT on cinema and entertainment systems that could be used in the hall. ________________ There is a major impact on ICT to use the hall as a cinema and entertainment centre. Having such well developed technology nowadays, we have various choices available. Using a computer and projector is probably the most common method of playing movies in the cinema. With this hardware, people can play the movie when it is ready and go away which means a member of staff does not need to stand by all the time but still need to stand by in the room however, as customers might need them for emergency). After the movie is played and finished, the same movie or the next movie may be automatically played if a time sequence is set beforehand. Therefore, a member of staff does not need to select the next movie and click play manually every time which saves time. This method of delivery is a kind of auto transition which means the movie plays itself according to the timing set. Apart from the delivery method of movie, how people purchase tickets nowadays shows the significant influences as well. With the benefit of internet, people can now check movie trailers online before they make a decision on which movie to watch, compared to the traditional way which trailers are to

BTEC IT Organisational Systems Security - outline of potential threats to an online business.

. Crimson Permanent Assurance IT Security Report I am writing this report to outline the potential threats that your growing business may face. Technical failure: Although computer technology has become increasing reliable, there may come a point at which a piece of hardware may fail. As you have 30 personal computers based in your business any downtime caused by one of your systems failing could cost your business dearly, especially if one of your 3 servers fails, this could result in a loss of revenue, customer service, a loss of important data may also cause you to lose revenue and may result in increased cost to get that data back, furthermore increased costs will result due to the need to replace the failed hardware. Human errors: At some point this will arise in your business, forgetting to backup important data may not present immediate damage but when this backup data is required the impact on your organisation may be severe when it could have been needlessly avoided. Ignorance in regards to security, where for example an employee does not realise the consequence of their actions such as leaving a computer logged in while they go to lunch is a threat as this makes it easy for an unauthorised personnel to gain access to the systems or network, when again it could have been easily avoided. Also even security conscious individuals who are competent and not ignorant

AO3 Investigate how search engines work

Unit 2: collaborative working AO3-Investigate how search engines work Web crawlers- This is a type of search engine, it basically a bot that automates all sites on the web and keeps in them in a neat order according to your search. They by visiting sets on the web and then processing the details on the sites such as key words, hyper-links and such and then copy the websites for later use. I t basically starts with a bunch of names of Url it needs to visit as i said before it processes all the information on the websites particularly keywords, it then uses that information to determine things on what the website is about. for example it processes a page about football matches and player statistic I then type in "where to find sites on football matches" the search then finds relevant sites and used sites that uses keywords such as football matches and ranks them in a list according to relevance. Web crawlers though often have trouble duplicating the same website, this purposes a real problem when there is little change in url. Example of webpages that use web crawler software include Google yahoo Bing(Microsoft) These search engines use crawlers everyday to keep up with the changes on websites and the information on them. Though most save copies on the webs browsed and then index them for later use. Web cr awling can be used for other application but is mostly use for

Business Communications

Business Communications Rapid advances in information technology have led to many new forms of communication. The most important of which has been the continual growth in the development of the personal computer, both in business and at home. Along with the dramatic increase in the use of PC's has come the internet which allows almost instant contact between businesses world wide, fax machines which enable text documents to be sent from one business to another, mobile phones and lap top computers which allow work to be carried out from almost any location. PC's can also be linked within companies (intranet) this means that all users can have access to relevant information at the same time. In addition to all of the above new technologies there are the more traditional forms of communication, which still have their place in today's business. Communication such as Face to Face, in writing via letters, memos etc. The advantages of these more traditional methods of communication are that they offer the personal touch to the customer. It is important that all functional areas with in a business communicate with each other. For example take a section of the NHS, The Paediatric Wing of the L& D Hospital. This includes four wards, which operate 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The employment structure is as follows: (see spider gram on following page). All of the departments must

Learning styles

Learning Styles Implementation In this task I am going to show how different people vary according to their specific styles of learning. No two people learn in the same way. These developments can be enhanced by the identification of the persons learning style. These learning styles can show different properties such as a person being able to learn at different paces than someone else. Other properties such as being able to demonstrate performing certain actions may be carried out by others differently. There are different ways to help identify why people learn in different ways, how to encourage these learning techniques, categories of learning and how these learning techniques can be developed by learning styles. In addition to this many informal questioning techniques and various studies have been used to identify certain learners. The breakdown to these learners is as follows; * Active learners * Reflective learners * Sensory learners * Intuitive learners * Visual learners * Verbal learners * Sequential learners * Global learners Active Learners These types of learners learn to understand information by taking part in a practical experiment etc. These learners are keen to try different activities which enable them to join in group work and perform better. Sitting through different lectures can be complicated for an active learner to become involved.
