The sign needs to be big in order to contain several pieces of information such as wether the property is to rent, to let or to buy. It also advertises the estate agent involved in selling the house.
This sign infact resembles two different size factors concerning people’s attitudes towards this warning. Shop managers obviously would not want to make this sign particularly large or noticeable as perhaps a parent, who may not want their child to watch the restricted film/game. The size of this sign varies remarkably depending upon which source of advertisement it is found upon. If this sign is displayed on a DVD or Video case it is not as obvious as perhaps on a cinema screen or a television advertisement. However cleverly if a film were made where teenagers would possibly not enjoy this anyway, then the age rating would be larger in order to attract larger over 18 aged crowds. Who may see the 18 age certificate as a good reason to watch a film. This sign is rarely seen large on films where it is actually aimed at under 18 markets.
Evaluation
Every sign needs a different size dependant upon what the sign is trying to say. For example a larger sign is usually applied when the sign is a road sign, or a sign needed to be visible from a large distance away.
Smaller signs are needed for example when the sign is maybe a non smoking sign, or a large quanitiy danger sign.
One thing sign makers need to be careful of is that if a sign is a certain colour or size, expensive planning permission is needed. This can be unhelpful if the sign needs to be visible for a certain date and a long wait is not wanted.
