As part of the advertising and marketing module I'm going to create two A4 size front covers for a new magazine and one contents page to accompany the front covers. I will also be producing two A4 size adverts for a new range of hair products. I will be working individually to produce the final products. I will be taking photographs and editing and manipulating them myself using Adobe Photoshop.

I've decided to create a new version of a lifestyle magazine which will be called UNIVERSAL. It will be different from the usual lifestyle magazines as it will be more multi cultural in its fashion content and topics also the front cover models who are usually white/English will be replaced, to illustrate this point to the consumer, I will use a range of models from different ethnic backgrounds on the front cover to portray this image of the magazine. The name UNIVERSAL suggest that it could be universally understood and anyone can pick it up and relate not just to its contents but to the English language as well as it's universal therefore I decided that creating this new magazine will be an ideal way of reflecting on the name and focusing on different cultures apart from just the limited cultures that the current lifestyle magazines actually cater for. The target audience for this magazine will be females aged from 18-29 from different ethnic backgrounds. UNIVERSAL will be sold in all good newsagents including outlets such as WHSmith.

The contents page will accompany one of the front covers that I'm going to produce and will have the same target audience as UNIVERSAL as this will be part of UNIVERSAL magazine.

The adverts that I'm going to produce are for a curling tong and a hair straightener from BaByliss. The new range of the products is going to be called "Half Time" as the purpose of this range is to take half of the time that a normal straightener and curling tong takes. It will appeal to an audience of mainly females aged between 16-25 and who take interest in their appearance and lead a stylish but busy lifestyle. These adverts may have a secondary audience of younger females who aspire to be like their older sisters who use Half Time products or perhaps males who also take interest in the way the appear (mainly models.). The adverts will appear in most lifestyle magazines including UNIVERSAL as these magazines appeal to a similar target audience to that of the Half Time adverts.

My research began by comparing female lifestyle magazines such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan Glamour, Asian Woman and Cosmopolitan to discover that they follow similar conventions. They all direct their audience to only one particular culture. I didn't come across a magazine that catered for a variety of different cultural/ethnic backgrounds in one single magazine. These magazines follow a format where an image of the model is placed in the middle and writing around the edges of the cover with the biggest text being the title right at the top of the page along with the bar code and price ...
