A report into how ICT has had an impact on an individuals working and personnel life For this report I decided to ask my mum how her life has changed since computers became involved daily in life. I wrote 10 questions each with questions incorporated to get a wide view on how it has had had an impact on her life. I asked my mum 'when did you first use a computer, and was it at the workplace or at home?' she answered 'I first used a computer at work because it was part of my new job' I then asked if she went on a course to help learn new skills and did she find it useful as follow up questions. She replied ' no, I wasn't given the opportunity to go on a course I simply had to teach myself it would have been a lot better if I had been on a course though. I then wanted to find out if she was comfortable about using ICT and if she was confident with it. I asked 'Was ICT a big change for you which you didn't really want to take because you found it intimidating, or did you relish the thought of learning new skills?' she answered ' yes I found it extremely intimidating as everyone else in my office new how to work a computer and I felt left behind. People also thought that because they knew I should so I found it very stressful' Next I wanted to know how much exactly had ICT changed her working life I asked if it had and she answered 'after a long time I have started to enjoy

Write an article for a local newspaper in which you explore/consider the impact that phones have had on our society. Mobile phones are the most popular and most useful piece of technology that has been made in the 21st century. Many people specially teenagers are addicted to the new SMS feature in mobile phones. Parents of such teenagers find this very inconvenient because they are the bill payers of all the texts that their son or daughter has sent them. I think that the use of SMS is very convenient however they can also be very expensive. In contrast to the opening paragraph some people also think that having mobile phones are very damaging to the public. They have fears that there can be a result of ear cancer which to some extent is true. The media has also publicized this news brought up a discussion on whether or not mobile phones should be supplied to young children. There have also been many cases when mobile phone users have been called up and verbally assaulted by paedophiles. This can be very horrific to many people as the things that have been said are very assaulting. However, mobile phones are a great deal of advantage to many people as they are now able to video conference and use them for business. There are also mobile phones whose service provider makes them capable of having access to wireless internet wherever they go. This is very important use for

Tesco Website Analysis

Tesco Website Tesco has expanded rapidly in the past ten years and has become the largest supermarket in the country. The growth has been based on a sound strategy of customer focus, expansion of services and goods, and domestic and international expansion. The purpose of the website is to create value for customers and to earn their lifetime loyalty. Tesco's success depends on the people who shop with them and also the people who work for them. If the customers like the website and find it easy to use they are more likely to come back and shop again. The Tesco website offers so much that it's a bit overwhelming the first time you visit it. Aside from the online supermarket, there's a music download shop, a Holiday & Flights section, and phone and broadband internet services. The Tesco's homepage is pretty good but it does contain quite a few graphics, so it wouldn't be suitable for 56k user's to go on there site due to the amount of time they would have to wait for the whole page to load. A bad thing that Tesco's have not added to their site is a version without any graphics so that 56k user's wouldn't have a problem browsing the site. Due to this fact Tesco's might lose a few customers but now that broadband is becoming more of a standard connection, this is Tesco's target audience. Here is a screen print of the homepage so you can see how bad it might be for 56k

Design and create a website for a company of my choice. I have decided to base this project on the company "Belle Du Jour".

Description of task My task in this project is to design and create a website for a company of my choice. I have decided to base this project on the company "Belle Du Jour". This is a bridal shop which sells dresses for special occasions and bridal accessories. "Belle du jour" would like to increase their business using a different strategy. At the moment their current strategy of increasing their production is by using advertisements in newspapers and magazines to reach there potential customers. I have decided that the best way to help them improve the service they provide is to set up a website for the company so that they can attract more customers. This means that they can advertise globally at a low cost it will also help to expand their business. I think this is the best way to help "Belle Du Jour" as they only have a limited amount of money and this way they will be able to advertise over the internet where people from all over the world could see the company's advertisements. This would also help the company to expand there business from a single business to a chain shop across England. The website will be eye-catching and informative, but interesting too. I would like the website to include the following features. This will help to achieve the main goals of the public: * The site will be easy to use and easy to access. To accomplish this I will make sure

Problematic Internet Use: A Fast Growing Problem in Our Society.

PIU 1 Running head: PIU Problematic Internet Use: A Fast Growing Problem in Our Society PIU 2 Abstract Growing technology introduces us not only to opportunities, but also negative effects. Media expansion and the creation of the Internet presented a new problem: Pathological Internet Use. Regardless of the clear symptoms, the Internet addicts, as any other addicts, deny dependence upon computer use. Although this phenomenon is not completely analyzed, it is clear that his problem is a fast growing in our society and it's psychological, physical, and social impact can be widely observed. There is no standard treatment yet, but the possible treatments for people having PIU are cognitive-behavioral therapy, a 12-step addiction program, or expressive arts therapy. As computer technology progresses, the most important question is: will computers serve us or be our masters? PIU 3 Problematic Internet Use: A Fast Growing Problem in Our Society We live in significant times. Our mankind can be proud of itself for achievements in microbiology and space explorations; but of all of man's achievements, the greatest are made in technology. Emmanuel Mesthane of Harvard's former technology and society program writes: "New technology creates new opportunities for men and societies and it is also generates new problems for them. It has both positive and negative effects" (1984,

Should Football Introduce The Video Replay?

Should Football Introduce The Video Replay? Student Name: Craig Boags Module Title: Professional Studies and I.T Course Code: 4LE016 Should football introduce the video replay? Football was first invented by children from public schools who improvised with a ball in their spare time with their friends. It developed from being recreational fun into a huge industry this country participates and spectates in and is not only the most popular sport in the country, but also a multi-million pound business. The rules of football have changed since the early years of the game with new rules being created and modified annually by governing bodies due to more advanced technology and greater finances available. However, there are always loop holes in the rules and there is a fine line between gamesmanship and breaking the rules. This puts increased pressure on the referees of the games to get decisions right, especially with the amount of money involved. Gamesmanship is the "bending" of the rules to gain an advantage; this is used a lot in sport and especially football. An example would be when a player gets tackled, and there is contact with the player, he would then fall over and exaggerate the movements to make it look like he had been fouled. The player is not actually breaking the rules, he is just bending them. The referee then has seconds to decide weather the player was
