Self Assessment and first thoughts on employment

Self Assessment and first thoughts on employment Self Assessment Findings This entire project has been an extremely helpful and eye opening experience. Beginning with the basic Aptitude test to find out which jobs I would be most suited for at this moment in time, I began my project which eventually should help me find the career best suited for my personality and skills. Interestingly enough the career I had hoped to carry out was on one of the lists. Before taking this test I hoped to either become a teacher or a journalist, and impressively enough journalism came up in my top category, which was relieving. The test was a simple questionnaire asking questions such as 'are you good at evaluating or comparing ideas?'. These simple questions did indeed sum up my character quite well and therefore I felt the results to this test were definitely reliable. If we take a closer look at the results for Aptitudes Questionnaire results graph we can see that clearly category A and C are above the other two, and on the list for Category C we can see Journalist and Editor. Category A B C D Result 35 31 35 30 Total C = 35 C = Creative and good at developing ideas Jobs/areas of work include... The Rhondda Heritage Park.

The Rhondda Heritage Park Coal was mined in the Rhondda for 175 years, at its peak the Rhondda was employing 41,000 men. The main boom time took place in the 20 years between 1869 and 1889. During WW1 there were 66 collieries producing nearly 10 million tonnes of coal a year. The end of the stamp-ship era and a fall off in export markets sadly meant that coal production in the Rhondda declined steadily. Nationalisation made changes to mining but did no prevent the continuing decline of the industry. Successive governments and the NCB (National Coal Board) were unwilling to keep uneconomic pits open and the area was still very difficult to mine. The Lewis Merthyr Colliery was first developed in the 1850's (then the Hafod and Coedcae collieries). Three other steam coal pits were sunk between 1880 - 1882. By 1900, all of these collieries were controlled by Lewis Herbert. Production then boomed to nearly 1m tonnes annually and it was one of the most important mining concerns in Britain, however it was later shut down in 1983. Eight years after its closure, Lewis Merthyr was re-opened as the Rhondda Heritage Park. The Lewis Merthyr shut due to geological conditions and some policies of the conservative party (A4). 'But if the conservative government had a part in closing the pit, It also played a part in its re-opening' (A4). Investment of £7m from the government and EU funds

Video game store company Website.

GCSE ICT PROJECT Microsoft FrontPage Video game store company Website Part One - Identify Statement of the problem Mr Simpson is the owner of Vidgame, a video game shop company. It has five shops in Surrey but as the company is expanding rapidly it needs a way to advertise its products on a large scale. It has also set up a reward card membership program and wants to publicise it. The business also needs an alternative way to sell its games and accessories and means of contacting the company. Mr Simpson is the user of this project as he will make use of the advertise and sell his products. Consideration of Alternative solutions One solution could be to produce a booklet on a word processor or desktop publishing program. The booklet could then be posted to the neighbourhoods near the game shops and would provide all the information needed. This could be a way to advertise its products, the reward card and there could be a mail order form, which is an alternative way of selling its products. But sending a booklet to every home in the area would be very expensive, it would use up a lot of paper and postage would be very costly. The cost of producing the booklets would be incurred each time the information needs updating. Another solution could be to advertise the information in the local newspaper. The information would reach almost everybody in the area. This

TV shows don't really need to be censored as the 9 'O' clock watershed seems to work. After 9 TV shows don't really need to be censored as they should be allowed to show any content after 9. I do think that live shows need

I don't have a clear feeling about censorship; however I do think that it is a bad thing because people don't get to see parts of the film, which they came to see. Some parts of films are hidden from the viewers and this is because the film certification company may feel that what will be shown in a film may affect people. But I feel that if people are light hearted about a films content then they shouldn't bother watching it. There have been times where people have gone out and copy cat film scenes. There was an incident where a boy who after playing manhunt had gone out and decided to play the game in reality, this leaded him to go out into the streets and kill someone. Censorship on the internet is improving. Filters are becoming more popular as they stop people visiting inappropriate websites. I have my own filter, which stops explicit sites being visited. Currently no human can actually remove content on the internet, which is why it is such a venerable place to put media which haven't been approved by companies such as the BBFC. The internet contains a database of MP3 files. They are actually illegal as they haven't had authorisation from artist or their personal assistants. The music industries are loosing millions of pounds due to illegal downloading. I feel that downloading music is good as the music can be obtained for free. Shop prices are very expensive and

Treatment- About His Person By Simon Armitage

Treatment- About His Person By Simon Armitage During my video a man whose voice is slightly eerie but very crisp and clear particularly when there are other sound effects will read the poem "About His Person" by Simon Armitage. I decided this because the poem is as if a policeman is reading a dead person's belongings. The video will begin with a very bright image of a dead man who is lying on a concrete floor it will be as if the sun is shining into the camera lens. Concrete can symbolise the coldness and harshness of the world that has partially led to the man's death. Some of the images that are evoked by the words of the poem will be represented by the images shown. But this will not be the case all the time, as I do not want the video to be overly literal. The video will always return to the image of the dead man as this is the most important image and should remain in the audience's mind. Some of the images will be symbolic of specific events for example the shot which shows flowers being ruthlessly trampled on represents the end of the relationship between the man and the woman. The only other character in the video is the woman with who the relationship has ended with. She is pictured crying over a suicide not left by the man. The sound of her crying is vital and is continued for several shots after to emphasize how upset she is. Sound is also used to interpret

Video Games and Consoles

Video Games and Consoles The Video game industry is nowadays worth billions of dollars, over 70% of households in the country own a video games console. Therefore a huge percentage of the population plays one; the trend of just children playing these machines is no longer present as people of all ages are playing consoles these days. This graph shows the percentage of people in America that play video games and it clearly shows people that play consoles under the age of 18 is 35%. This then shows that a large population of children and teenagers are playing these consoles and this may result in such problems as, children exercising less and become obese at a young age and if these machines are played to a certain extent, people can feel socially isolated as they would much rather sit in doors and play with their consoles, instead of going out with friends and socialising. However you could argue the case that video gaming is a revolutionary form of entertainment as it can help people with learning and mental difficulties improve Cognitive skills and hand to eye co-ordination. In contrast to people feeling socially isolated video gaming can bring some people together, a good example of this would be the annual video games E3 conference held in Los Angeles California. Which enables people to interact with other gamers and designers, and gives them the chance to play the

Making a website for a specific company

Ict- Coursework Sarah Kennedy Identification For our coursework we are making a website for a specific company we have chosen. The company I have chosen is 'Hair Associates'. We are making websites for the company, which is an effective way of advertising a company world-wide, for anyone to see at anytime. As the authorities at 'Hair Associates' have not okayed the website I'm making, the website will not be presented on the Internet. It will be aimed at the customers mainly but could be used for other purposes, possibly for another company to compare the two companies, or if someone would want to work at 'Hair Associates'. The main objective of the website is going to be that customers can access the website and find any information they want. If they wanted to speak to an individual person, they could have another way of contacting them i.e. through email or through phoning to speak to an employee personally. In the website there won't be any online shopping facilities, as we cannot process that information. This website is going to be about eight pages long, in these pages there will be; three links to external sites, a chat room and many other things. The information on the website, although not going to be produced onto the Internet, will be factual and accurate. My objectives are: ? Contents bar on each page ? Title bars on the pages ? Internal links on every
