E-commerce Britain is turning into a dot.com nation. By 2001 over 10 million homes had access to the Internet compared with 6 million the year before. Also, many people access the Internet through cyber cafés and schools, colleges and universities. In recent years, more and more people (specifically the young) have turned to e commerce. Retailers simply cannot afford to ignore these developments. However, not all retailers are equally well placed to take advantage of this changing environment for trade. Recent events have demonstrated that selling via the Internet is not a guaranteed success for all companies. Some Internet ventures have collapsed even though billions of pounds were spent on trying to build the brands. These examples include: * Boo.com, an on-line fashion and sports clothes retailer, which failed despite having £12million ploughed into creating awareness of it. * Webvan, which soaked up £700 million in an attempt to create a large-scale retailing chain in the USA. Webvan had to file for bankruptcy. Other companies are 'hanging in there', but have yet to make a profit. They struggle largely because they required an existing brand presence and needed to create one. Doing so is a long and expensive drag. Michael Lee Media Coursework MADONNA-Frozen I have been asked to analyse the video for Madonna's song titled frozen. For this I will look at the words and video of the song and see how the writer and director have tried to put the song across to the listeners of Madonna's music. To analyse the video I will need to understand about cinema convention terminology. This is a technical language that correctly describes a range of techniques that have been In my opinion the song 'frozen' is designed as a love song as the words suggest this. I think she is singing about her loving someone, but they perhaps not loving her. This is shown in many lines throughout the song. For example she says 'if I could melt your heart', meaning his heart is possibly like ice and he may be cold towards her. Also she states 'your frozen when your hearts not open' which could again mean she can't penetrate his heart. It's almost as if his heart is actually frozen and she is trying to thaw it out to get to it. I believe that in a video you must make it with the type of song it is for in mind. For the video 'frozen' the director and designers have really used the video to boost the way the song is projected to the public excellently. Effects of the Internet of Bagozzi's exchange paradigm

In what ways has the development of the Internet created challenges to Bagozzi's views of exchange? "Bagozzi's exchange paradigm has emerged as a framework for conceptualising marketing behaviour." (Bagozzi, 1975: pp. 32). This theory identifies the parties involved in any transaction, and the intangible and tangible entities are exchanged. By identifying the actors/parties, this theory acts as a valuable managerial tool, by helping to think what is being exchanged, and with whom. This theory has helped to see beyond the tangible products being exchanged, but to consider the intangible aspects of the transaction and all entities. The weakness of this being that it is difficult to identify all intangible entities within the transaction. The theory also states the exchange is reciprocal and mutually beneficial (Bagozzi, 1975: pp. 32), i.e. that the entities being exchanged are perceived to be of equal value. Furthermore, Bagozzi (1974) observed that complex exchanges could include both overt and covert coordination. Bagozzi identified three different types of exchange: restricted, generalised and complex. "Restricted exchange refers to two party reciprocal relationships", where both parties give and receive from the other party, (Bagozzi, 1975: pp. 32). The mass media has been an integral part of society ever since its inception as a result of the creation of 'movable type' media in the 1400s which spanned the printing process and ultimately dissemination of information. Brief For my AS level media studies coursework, my brief was to produce an entertainment webzine comprising of a home page, six hyperlinked pages with at least 1 original picture. Research Firstly I chose to focus my project on urban music but I found that it would be difficult through my research to focus on a wide genre of music (especially with the time restrictions). Therefore I decided to narrow the concept down to one particular artist of the urban ("hip-hop") culture scene. I then began to find that the concept of a "hip-hop" orientated webzine appealed to a 13-19 year old urban music liking audience which I labelled as my "target" audience. Through questionnaires and group interviews I found the response very interesting, I found that most of the target audience felt that "hip-hop" was treated as a niche category and that the lesser known artists were not being represented. On the questionnaire a question asked: Do you think that there are enough hip-hop dedicated sites on the internet? Approximately 60% of the answers I received said that there was not enough "hip-hop" sites on the web and many highlighted the point that lesser known artists were being represented.
