As a rule, the name Walt Disney is associated with the Disneyland and some popular cartoons about Mickey Mouse. There is no doubt that these are two significant things created by Walt Disney. But in fact, Disney has done much more.
From childhood he was interested in drawing, he even succeeded in selling some pictures to the neighbors. His incredible interest in arts and media resulted in setting up The Walt Disney Company in 1923. This was the beginning of changes in an animation industry.
First of all, Walt Disney was an innovator. “Innovation” – probably the most crucial word in describing his works. He created the most renowned character in the world – Mickey Mouse. He made the first in the history cartoon film with synchronous sound “Steamboat Willie” and the first full-length film. He was the first who introduced Technicolor in the cartoons. His film “White and the Seven Dwarfs" was the first full-length animated musical feature where he joined feeling of music with the picture. He was the who successfully combined animation with real live actions.
And this is not all. Not only technical innovations WD contributed to the development of an animation industry. As well, he broadened the borders of animation. It is to him we owe that the cartoon movie became a kind of art, understood and loved by all. It was he who first transferred the story to the screen, then brought his cartoon characters on the street in his amusement park "Disneyland".
Furthermore, he changed the approach of animation to the audience, focusing the family, to preserve and strengthen it. No shocking behavior, even no hidden insult to any category of people, no negative energy. He gave people only positive emotions.
He tried to make peoples’ dreams come true, to create happiness and joy in society. This was his aim and the mission of his great company.
Summing everything up, I could say that WD was one of the persons who changed not only the animation industry but the world too. Undoubtedly, he made a large impact on an animation industry. He contributed a lot of techniques to the animation industry developing it. But as well, he tried to make the world happier and bring the ‘tale’ in reality.
