When comparing two websites, Green Landscaping with Native Plants and The South Carolina Wildlife Foundation, it is important to “evaluate each website before you consider using the information found on it”(Learning Resource Centers).  The categories to evaluate are: Accuracy, Authority, Objectivity, Currency, and Coverage.  These five guidelines are the basis for evaluation and the cornerstones to creating a good website.  Of these two sites listed, I find that the Green Landscaping with Native Plants site falls more in line with these criteria and is therefore the better site.

The first criterion to be discussed is that of Accuracy.  This criterion could very well be one of, if not the most important one.  It is essential for a web site to maintain not only accurate information, but also up to date information as well.  The Great Lakes National Program office of the Environmental Protection Agency maintains the Green Landscaping with Native Plants site.  This is a very reliable source for this sort of information.  The site includes a pamphlet that lists all sources used.  This fact helps to solidify the validity of the claims.  The site also informs it readers that it is not the final know all authority on the topic by saying "we make no implied or expressed guarantee"(Green Landscaping with Natural Plants). The South Carolina Wildlife Federation website is maintained by the federation itself.  There where however, no sources listed, which does not necessarily reduce the reliability of the information, but does not help to substantiate it either.  Both sites featured both internal and external links that were accurate and in line with the goal of the site.  The Green Landscape with Native Plants site however did have two external links that did not connect on the other end.  Both of these sites comply with this criterion and are both very good sites for accurate information.
