Music is the most influential of all of the art forms. It is more than entertainment. Music has been used as a powerful tool for healing, a means of communication, and a way to lift the human spirit.

Shannon Gardner 3/17/2002 English 105 Essay # 4 Argument/Persuasion Paper Concession format Music is the most influential of all of the art forms. It is more than entertainment. Music has been used as a powerful tool for healing, a means of communication, and a way to lift the human spirit. To some, music results in the loss of parental control, loss of imagination, and increase difficulty in relationships (Bloom, 135). These two very different views of music have been the subject of debate for and against music. Music itself heals, soothes, motivates, innovates and stimulates the mind, body, and soul. Some believe that music interferes with moral development. The outrageous lyrics can promote sex, violence, and drugs. Rock has been said to have "the beat of sexual intercourse" (Bloom, 130). The arousing beat and explicitly descriptive lyrics encourage youth to treat these as completely natural urges. They give the implications of routine and acceptance before even the slightest knowledge of love, marriage, or family. It also has a negative impact on education. "I believe it ruins the imagination of young people and makes it very difficult for them to have a passionate relationship to the art and thought that are the substance of liberal education" (Bloom, 136). Bloom has a very negative outlook on the effects of music. He believes that modern culture,

I will be analysing two very different types of documentary, 'Dogtown and the Z-Boys', which takes the role of being a full length movie type documentary, and 'Teenage Transsexuals' which was recently shown on Channel 4.

ZOE DEE 27TH OCTOBER 2004 ANALYSIS OF TWO DOCUMENTARIES I will be analysing two very different types of documentary, 'Dogtown and the Z-Boys', which takes the role of being a full length movie type documentary, and 'Teenage Transsexuals' which was recently shown on Channel 4. 'Dogtown and the Z-Boys' is a documentary which takes a look at the transformation of surfing into skateboarding. The film follows the evolution of skating through it's heyday in the 70's, to it's decline in the 80's, and then back upto it's popular return in the 90's. It also follows the Zephyr team, a high profile surf/skate club which revolutionised the skating industry right upto the present day. The film is written and produced by Stacy Peralta and Craig Stecyk, who were two of the original co-founding members of the Zephyr Skate Team. Stacy Peralta also directed the film. Peralta does not openly avoid issues such as race, gender or class. He simply tells the story as it is.. Peralta uses a mix of intelligent editing, camera technique and format to give the film a certain tone. The scenes are edited to be very quick and snappy. This makes the film run less smoothly and gives it a messy, sloppy feel which reflects the lifestyle of the Z-Boys. It also makes the film exciting and intriguing as you don't know where it's headed next. The rock and roll type music which includes 'T-Rex'

Effects of the Internet of Bagozzi's exchange paradigm

In what ways has the development of the Internet created challenges to Bagozzi's views of exchange? "Bagozzi's exchange paradigm has emerged as a framework for conceptualising marketing behaviour." (Bagozzi, 1975: pp. 32). This theory identifies the parties involved in any transaction, and the intangible and tangible entities are exchanged. By identifying the actors/parties, this theory acts as a valuable managerial tool, by helping to think what is being exchanged, and with whom. This theory has helped to see beyond the tangible products being exchanged, but to consider the intangible aspects of the transaction and all entities. The weakness of this being that it is difficult to identify all intangible entities within the transaction. The theory also states the exchange is reciprocal and mutually beneficial (Bagozzi, 1975: pp. 32), i.e. that the entities being exchanged are perceived to be of equal value. Furthermore, Bagozzi (1974) observed that complex exchanges could include both overt and covert coordination. Bagozzi identified three different types of exchange: restricted, generalised and complex. "Restricted exchange refers to two party reciprocal relationships", where both parties give and receive from the other party, (Bagozzi, 1975: pp. 32). Generalised exchange includes at least three actors, who benefit indirectly, i.e. gives to one actor and receives from

Outline and discuss the view that media institutions are expanding and becoming more popular.

Outline and discuss the view that media institutions are expanding and becoming more popular. Media is the method and organisation used by specialist groups to convey messages to large socially mixed and widely dispersed. It can be defined as a means of public communication, which is open to all audiences of people living under different conditions in widely different cultures, therefore reaching a great and wider audience. It establishes contact with people at a distance from the media source and from each other. If we are referring to a single form of communication such as T.V or radio than we use the term 'medium'. The audience for mass communications is unique to modern society and the main form of mass media is Television, Internet, Radio, and Newspapers. It's obvious that the mass institution has increased as individuals are spending an overwhelming amount of physical time with different media forms. This is known as 'centrality of the media'. Analysing sociologist arguments and reports will successfully assist me to complete this essay. Throughout this essay I aim to discuss and analyse the following media institutions: Internet, Video games and Television. The first media institution to be mentioned in this essay is the Internet. The Internet is the largest WAN (wide area network) in the world. It was developed by the United States Defence Advanced Research

Report on Black Sheep Brewery 's PerformanceCommunication planning to effectively target wholesalers

Report on Black Sheep Brewery 's Performance Communication planning to effectively target wholesalers How to improve logistics facilities How to plan international marketing to target export market Presented to Geoff Lancaster Presented By Asim Waheed MBA GroupA (Aug intake UEL MM) Communication Planning The term 'Marketing Communications' is generally preferred to the term 'promotion', In a sense all marketing communication activity is a form of promotion, that is in one way or another is attempting to promote the interest of the brand, product range and/or company. Promotion is a part of a firm's overall effort to communicate with consumers and others about its product or service 'offering'. Both the company and the consumer have needs which they aim to fulfill; the profit making company wishes to improve or maintain profits and market share, and gain a better reputation than its competitors, and the consumer aims to reach his or her personal goals. The total product offering allows each party to move towards these goals. The marketing communications mix is made up of personal selling, a range of conventional advertising media and a range of non-media communication tools. Other marketing communications techniques, such as sales promotion, sponsorship and exhibitions do have value. Especially with this case Black Sheep Beers has been in the market for

This is my first review on 'Hot Fuss' by The Killers, the review and image are from www.albumvote.co.uk. 'To me this is a great new album, although the 1980's undertones are obvious, the killers have at last provided a rejuvenated form of 80's rock, with a certain extra humph lacking in much of both the 80's and latest rock bands. It excites me to see that at last the new wave of rock bands are coming into the industry, at last perhaps a little competition for the endless tedium brought from the bland

Read two or three front pages from different newspapers - Analyze the way each has been constructed and include similarities and differences.

Tabloid Newspapers Read two or three front pages from different newspapers. Analyze the way each has been constructed and include similarities and differences. A tabloid is different to a broadsheet newspaper because for one reason a tabloid is a small newspaper, which can be held easily, and you can easily see the whole page. A broadsheet is a large newspaper, which you need to lay out on the table or on the floor to see the whole page. A tabloid also is written in a different style to a broadsheet. Its stories are sensationalized or exaggerated, and they use a lot of alliteration and puns on words, whereas a broadsheet is clearly factual and they stick more or less to the story line. The tabloids generally focus on entertainment rather than political news and you often hear of the tabloid press harassing the celebrities. To hear about a broadsheet press reporter, harassing celebrities is very unusual and rare. The broadsheets focus on politics and the sport rather than entertainment. Tabloids are written in simple language and are aimed at working and 'lower middle class' people, whereas broadsheets are aimed at more intellectual people and they are written in a different style. We are studying 3 tabloid newspapers. 'The Sun', 'The Express' and 'The Mirror'. All three newspapers are dated the 21'st may 1998 and they all focus on the two nurses accused of killing a
