My priorities
Task analysis
In my Task Analysis, I must identify all the key words and phrases to understand the task demand together with its definition. Next I define all key words and phrases. It is important to identify all the important key factors as well as the related factors so I can focus on what to research on. I must understand what the Task Question requires me to identify so as to answer the task demand.
Research and Development
To help me understand the factors more, I will need to have a wide range of resources such as magazines, newspaper articles, internet, textbooks, cookbooks and libraries to research about balanced diet. I could also find out ways to plan a balanced meal that must include a variety of interesting dishes as demanded by the task. I will also ensure that my research is relevant by making sure I got back up information. As the main topic for the task question is balanced diet, I must first make sure that I know the definition and the importance of it. I will find out the effects of not having a balanced diet, be it in short or long term. By not having balanced diet, it could lead to diet related diseases. I will then have to research about the different types of diseases. This could be found in the textbook itself thus making the research easy for me. As I need to have a wide range of resources, I will be making a trip or two to the school library to find out more about the interesting dishes suitable for children in a day nursery and perhaps more on the day nursery itself. If the school library isn’t able to provide me with the information I need, I will then have to make a trip to the nearest community library to do my research. Even though I could get plenty of answers from the textbook itself, I should not be complacent. I may also find out more in newspaper articles or magazines. Interesting dishes could also mean different ways of cooking. Different ways of cooking provides different texture, appearance and taste of the dish. This will make the dish appears appetizing yet healthy. I will depend on cookbooks so as to provide me a rough idea of the interesting dishes I could plan. This is important as children are more likely to be attracted to the appearance of the food before the taste. I will also need to find out what goes on at the day nursery. As my aunt is a teacher in a day nursery, I will be able to enquire about the children and the activities they do. However, I must also make sure that an extra research is done. Adding on, I will be researching on how to obtain a balanced diet with the help of the nutritional tools such as the healthy diet pyramid for children, recommended daily allowances and food composition table which could help to modify to make the meal healthier and appetizing to consume. For development, I will be doing a case study on a child in a day nursery. This will also give me a rough idea on what children likes to eat and how am I going to improved on the diet.
Decision-making
For decision-making, I will need to decide on the variety of interesting dishes so as to cook for my execution. Base on the research, I would already found out what makes a dish interesting. Be it in terms of appearance, taste or presentation. I will be using different methods of cooking for sustaining the nutritional value and to make the dish more appetizing and attractive. The dishes must be appetizing and attractive so as to get the children from a day nursery to consume it. However, before deciding the right dishes, I will need to find out more of its nutritional benefits to double check whether it answers the task demand and increase the intake of other nutrients besides carbohydrates and protein. If it doesn’t, I will have to either modify or change the dish till it makes a balanced diet. The whole objective is to ensure the dishes itself contain all the required nutrients in the correct amounts.
Planning
In planning, I will list down the various recipes that I will be using for my Execution. I will also list out the methods of preparing the dish. I will need to schedule my time for execution and plan what should be done from the beginning till the end. This will be done in my time plan. To ensure that I will be ready for the execution, I will practice the cooking of the dishes at home for 2 to 3 times until I’m able to do minimize the mistakes. I will also need to submit my shopping list to my teacher. I must make sure that no ingredients is left out or needed too much. This is because if an ingredient is left out, it might make a great impact to the taste of the dish. If it’s too much, it will be a waste of food. I must also make sure that I got all the utensils I need. This is so as I will not need to waste time rewashing the utensils whenever I need it.
Execution
If there are any mistakes throughout the execution, I will take note of it and record down what went wrong. I will follow the time plan I planned out earlier in my planning. This will help me to finish on time and not to miss out any steps when I am cooking. After the execution, I must make sure that I listed my mistakes such as forgetting to mention any utensils and what I have succeeded on. This is needed for evaluation.
Evaluation
Lastly in my evaluation of the coursework, I will evaluate my whole coursework including execution. Strengths and weaknesses for me to improve are also needed to be written down in the evaluation. Think and list down the things that I could have done better when preparing the dishes during my Execution. After that, I will follow up by stating the problems I encountered during the Execution and ways to solve the encountered problems and lastly my conclusion for evaluation. The purpose of evaluation is to check if I met the target from my priorities I set for the task, evaluate the task processes and write up a conclusion on my whole coursework.
Conclusion
I have identified the key factors for Task analysis. I understood what are the definitions for the key factors are in my task question and what I have to focus for research. I have also written an introduction to show what I understand about the task question. The introduction also shows what I am going to do in my Task Analysis. The key factors are widening up into related factors which will help me on my research in Research and Development. I also understand what I need to do accordingly as stated in my priorities. I understand that in order to carry out the task question, I must know what the question is asking about.
