Identification of strengths and weaknesses

I play netball for grasshoppers netball club in the osterley league for the juniors and also for the senior team in the Harlington league, I play GD and occasionally GK depending on whom I am playing for. But in netball you have to learn to play a variety of positions to become a good player and develop your skills, which is the reason that we at grasshoppers team train versatility as well as in our normal positions. My coach has said that I have developed significantly since coming to the club and has identified my strengths and weaknesses in both skills and fitness.

Skills and techniques:

One of my strengths as a defender is intercepting opponents passes, and putting the ball out of play by doing this I am able to hold up their play and this gives us an opportunity to reform our defence and also a possibility of a turnover (when defending team takes possession of the ball from attacking team and starts there attack). This is one of the reasons that I am a defensive player; I have an advantage because of my height, having good reaction time helps with this skill. While executing this skill it is important to keep an eye on the 'play' (ball and the players on the court) and the player that I would be marking also the space I'm defending. Therefore is good to have excellent perceptual ability (making quick decisions in your head).

Another strength on mine is to clear the ball smoothly and quickly out of the defensive third so that our attack have re-positioned themselves and therefore have move players further up the court attacking and pressurising the opposition.

One of the weaknesses that have shown up in my game are claiming, the rebounds, this is a very important part of the game and can be match deciding this is why it is very important for me to improve on this skill.

To gain every rebound you have to have a lot of explosive strength ...
