Football is actually a very cheap sport to play. If an individual is representing his or hers school or college then there will be no cost whatsoever. However if the sport is played outside of schools for Sunday League teams then there will be a minor fee. These fees usually contribute to training locations and accessories for the club such as team kits, footballs, trophies and so on and so forth.
There are several clubs locally were football can be played. The most common are ones such as Marton F.C, Kader F.C and Cleveland Juniors. There are also several local facilities where you can play the sport. The main ones consist of Acklam Sports Centre, Eston Sports Centre, Southlands, Macmillans and the latest which is currently under construction, Goals. These are all 5 a side pitches. Sandy flats, Prissik Base and Saltersgill are all pitches used for low league games at weekends and are also available to the general public when they are not being used for league games.

The partnership between them and the FA began in 2002 and will be affective until at least 2010. All the England teams wear Umbro training wear, which is attempting to produce the best possible product for players. McDonalds is yet another governing body partner and is a large investment in grassroots and is involved in coaching recruitment and provision. A four year deal was made with the FA and commenced in 2002. Carlsberg, another sponsor, have an exclusive partnership with men’s football only. At the moment the deal stands until 2008 with the FA. The 2006 World Cup in Germany provides massive coverage through England. Finally, Pepsi are involved in the development of rising stars and have signed with the FA for four years. They also sponsor big name individual players such as David Beckham, Roberto Carlos and Ronaldinho and many others. These players have appearing in many adverts advertising products made by Pepsi.
The minority gender in football is definitely considered to be females. On March 1895 the first women's football match recorded was held between a northern and a southern team. The north won the game 7-1. In 2002 the Football Association announced that football had become the top sport for girls and women in the country. This means that the 5-year plan started in 1999 has been achieved three years ahead of schedule. Karen Doyle, head of women’s football in the FA is working closely with the FA committee to ensure that an appropriate structure is set up which is supported by the women’s pyramid. Arsenal has provided great support and encouragement for their ladies´ side with their innovative scheme to make their women semi-professional by paying them a wage to which Arsenal male players contribute from their own salary. Female football is becoming more popular, more nationally recognized and increasingly respected. Hope Powell was appointed as the first ever full-time National Coach of the women's team in June 1998, with responsibility for the senior, Under-18 and Under-16 women's teams. She is an experienced international player with 66 caps for England and 35 goals, she is the youngest ever England coach and the first female. The BCFA launched an initiative to recruit more female referees by staging a presentation featuring 'role models' Wendy Toms and Janie Frampton.
