A)        Evidence suggests in the 1980’s that women had fewer roles meaning they weren’t expected to be highly educated, manage a career or fit themselves into the recent culture and fashions. Women were seen in the background as the support or missing piece of a man, the man that strives for success and self-satisfaction. A women’s role is much clearer get married and become a mother. As feminism grew it saw radical change for women’s roles in society such that they are a lot more independent, they can strive for career satisfaction at the highest ranks and they are not seen as this reproductive machine, they can make their own choice.

As contempory UK shows women are becoming more equal to men so they are perceived as not a icon for a man but as a separate state in society in that they are not just a man’s stepping stone to success but as a total rival of power in society. Evidence now shows that women’s mature state of mind makes them better candidates for educational success, media advertisements and family head of house figure. In the contempory UK it is highlighted that this view is now extinct yet there is still no answer on what a man should now progress to as the days of total masculinity has gone! This has resulted from feminist uprisings of the suffragettes and the radical 1960’s of change in society of women becoming the equal party to a man. As it shows women now has these targets and ambitions that must be carried out and that is to carry on the feminist way and make sure it stays but this leaves the man without options of targets.

Even now the new man is unclear, media suggests he should be less masculine and should take concern on looks and appearance such as a women, although many suggests that masculinity can be shown by this change yet some believe masculinity is a set ideal of unemotional (unless showing anger), toned and doesn’t pay attention to appearance. This unclear message also ...
