In Tesco and in any business communication is very important because it lets people know what is going on throughout the company. External people of the business and staff communicate in many different ways. Here are some of the different types of communication they use:
E-mail Notice board Meeting
Fax Paper Telephone
Memo Newsletter Letter
Internet Catalogue Advertisement

The Human Resources department would use E-mail because it is speedy confidential no need for discussion and they can keep a record of it.
The Finance department would use memorandum if they want a message sent to someone in the business internally because it is quick and hassle free because there is no need for discussion.

Introduction
In the tall organisational structure there is a long chain of command because there are so many levels to go though. This means that the manager will have very few subordinates, which means that the manager does not have to deal with all the subordinates. Some of the advantages of the tall organisational structure are:
- It enables managers to supervise their employees closely.
- Managers have fewer staff to communicate with, and so are able to communicate more easily with those they have under their command.
- It allows people to specialize in the areas they are best at.
Some of the disadvantages of a the tall organisational structure are:
In the flat organisational structure the chain of command is very short because there are so few levels sometimes with only one or two management levels.
This is an organisational structure of the Functional areas of the Tesco in Roundhay that I have researched.
