The class got back in a circle and put the killer in the middle, which represented the thoughts. Then we went round the circle each person giving a sentence or word showing what they thought the killer was thinking after she killed them people.
We went back in our groups to create a role-play, to set up the aftermath of the scene. This had had to be narrated over by a TV reporter who is reporting live. I was the reporter, and the scene had a comedy tone to it. This lasted less than a minute. Then we changed the role-play to a report about the suicide of Laura Grimes. This play was had a much more sad tone to it.
Now we had to make three still images for each girl that the news might show on TV to aid their story.
Then we took one of the still images from each of the girl’s lives and brought it to life like a video extract. We took the beach for Brenda Spencer and the birthday party of Laura grimes. Both of these were made to look happy.
We all got back into a class and then did hot seating. With the context of a chat show about bullying using these two stories and people associated with them. We had the parents and Laura Grimes and Brenda Spencer, A victim’s parents and the general public. Someone asked ‘Is your daughter ill’ to the parents of Brenda Spencer. They answer as in ‘no’. Then Miss asked what advice should be given on what you can do if you are being bullied.
Then for the final piece of work we had to make an accompaniment to the song in the form of a videos using role-play. In this we used slow motion and ill images. We used cross cutting across the lives of Brenda Spencer and Laura Grimes. We got them to walk off together at the end of the video.
At the end of the video I would make this the most significant and important moment of the piece by putting factual narration about bulling up.
We did these activities to get better at drama, to learn new skills and get the fell of drama exams. I developed the skills of still images and slow motion.
I think my group and I worked Ok we could have don’t it better. We could have improved it by getting straight on with the work so we have more time to discuss the objective.
If I had to this differently, I would put down some more ideas. And planned it out a lot more.
