“Lamb to the Slaughter” and “The Speckled Band”

The detectives in "Lamb to the Slaughter" are not very clever because they rule the wife out for being the suspect because she is so nice. Then they eat the murder weapon and any good detective should know not to touch anything on the murder scene.

The detective in "The Speckled Band" is very clever and he is strong he isn't scared of the villain. When the villain bends a bar Sherlock Holmes just bends it back and laughs. Sherlock Holmes is very clever in the end he finds out how the lady died and he saved the other lady from dying.

The villain in "Lamb to the Slaughter" is very clever she kills her husband goes to the shop as normal then comes back and gets the tea ready so it looks like she didn't know he was dead until she got back from the shop. The cleverest part is where she persuades the detectives to eat the lamb what she killed her husband with.

In the "The Speckled Band" the villain is very obvious because he is very nasty to people. When the story was set gypsies were thought to be evil people and if you associate with them that means you must be evil and the villain had gypsies living on his land.

The woman in "Lamb to the Slaughter" starts of to be a nice woman then when her husband tells her that he is leaving her she becomes very

aggressive. She kills her husband with a frozen lamb and then when the police are eating the lamb she is sat in her chair laughing about it.

The women are very gentle and innocent in "The Speckled Band" they cannot defend themselves so they need a man to do it. That's why she goes and sees Sherlock Holmes to help her.

In "Lamb to the Slaughter" the murder was on the spur on the moment. She never planned on killing her husband because before that night she never knew that he was going to leave her.

The murder in "The Speckled Band" was more planned out. The evil doctor had the rope put down from the vent so the snake could climb down it and he had the bed clamped to the floor so the woman couldn't move the bed.

"Lamb to the Slaughter" has some comedy in it where the woman is laughing to herself in the other room because she had tricked the police into eating the murder weapon

"The Speckled Band" is very serious the only humour it has in is when the doctor bends a bar and Sherlock Holmes just bends it back and just laughs.

In "Lamb to the Slaughter" the woman who kills her husband is the only character that changes her personality. At the beginning she is really nice and looking forward to her husband coming home then when he tells her that he is leaving her she is calm. Then she just hits him over the head with a frozen lamb.

In "The Speckled Band" the characters have the same personality all the way through the story.

The villain gets away with the murder in "Lamb to the Slaughter" because she persuades the police to eat the murder weapon.

The villain in "The Speckled Band" finds out that he can't out wit Sherlock Holmes because he is too clever and he makes the snake go away then the snake kills the doctor and Sherlock Holmes has solved the mystery.
