To be a surgeon you must go to college and get your degree. The main classes even starting in high school that surgeons usually have an interest in are math and science, which are the best subjects out of your core classes. Going to college you also study similar subjects that will lead you in being a surgeon, such as the human body and how it works. Everyone knows that getting a degree in college will let you have a better opportunity in the future. Going to school and learning is one of the best things you can do for yourself and everyone should take advantage of it. In the long run, the more you know the better off you will end up being as a surgeon and it can lead you farther down the road.
How likely is it for you to be unemployed when you’re going to be a cardiac surgeon? Most likely the chance is very small. More and more surgeons are needed everyday to help other people. Physicians and surgeons held about 633,000 jobs in 2006 in the United States which is a lot for this country. The employment rate is projected to rise about 14% from 2006 to 2016, which is faster than any occupation. Approximately 15% are self employed, 18% employed by a hospital, half of them work in offices of physicians, and others practiced in different schools, local governments, or even other countries. Being a surgeon doesn’t mean you have to always work in a hospital, there are many additional locations you can find to work at other than a hospital. No matter where you work at being a surgeon, you are sure enough to get a great salary. An average cardiac surgeon’s yearly salary can range around $250,000 with most tax reductions taken off. It can also depend on your location and time of experience that varies your salary. Some cardiac surgeons can be making up to a million dollars a year.
There are also many reasons why some people don’t want to be a cardiac surgeon. A big concern is the capability of seeing a large amount of blood in someone else’s body. Many people can’t stand having a see a drop of blood or they will get sick. Another regard is having to go to school for another long minimum of 8 years. Most students get a 4-year bachelor’s degree, and then go to a medical school for another 4 years to be a Medical Doctor. While you’re at it you have to complete 5 years of general surgery training before starting cardiothoracic training which is your chest area including the lungs. Last of all nobody wants to work more than what you’re suppose to that is a normal 40 hour weekly schedule. It can be extremely stressful working 60 or more hours about every week. An addition to that, nobody said it would be easy going to school and studying for this career, but it is possible.
Being a surgeon has many great qualities to it. The things they get to do for others everyday, having an enormous amount of knowledge, the environment they work in, and what everyone loves to have is a lot of money. If you have an interest in learning more about the human body, consider being a surgeon because just one person can make a big impact in the world. There are many great things that everyone can appreciate about being a surgeon.
