In this essay I will be analysing the 19th century novel of “Frankenstein” written by Mary Shelley  and the context and time in which it was written.

Mary Shelly her husband and lord Byron where stranded indoors during a violent storm. The electricity had gone and they challenged each other to write horror stories. That is when Mary Shelley wrote “Frankenstein”. In her book  she stated that she wanted to “curdle the blood and quicken the heart”. Mary Shelley’s husband was a famous poet and was always telling Mary Shelley to get more interested in literacy and that is what inspired her to go on in her career.
