Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

Writer

John Steinbeck was born in California 1902. He studied at Stanford University but never  graduated. Then he moved from California to New York and tried to earn his money as a free-lance writer. He failed and returned to California.

Steinbeck was a very shy person, he didn’t like much publicity. But his work speaks for themselves, he has done many world-wide famous novels. He died in N.Y. 1968.

Title

I think Steinbeck chose this title to show that the value of a mentally retarded person wasn’t the same as the value of a “normal sense” person. Maybe nowadays, but it wasn’t the same value in the early 30’s. If you couldn’t work much and behave, you weren’t worth anything.
