Of Mice And Men – John Steinbeck

I've been reading the book ''Of Mice And Men'' by John Steinbeck. That is a very good book and I'm going to talk about my point of view about a few things in the book.

In the book there is some clear parallels between old Candy and his old dog, and George and his companion Lennie. Both Candy and George have been taking care of their best friends all their life, and I would say that the dog and Lennie, may have been stopping Candy and George living their life.

Even though they both are getting tired of their companions, they're there for them when they need them. They are also defending them, for example when the other guys are telling Candy that they have to kill the dog, because it stinks, it's old and sick, Candy tries his best so the dog still can be alive, even though he knows that the best would be if the dog would be shot in the neck. The same thing is about George and Lennie, George is telling the guys that Lennie ain't smart at all, but that he's a hell of a good worker, and strong as a bull. Both George and Candy are defending them because it's their best friends, and they do care about them.

Since Lennie is retarded, George tries to get Lennie to think about the farm so he could shoot him while he was dreaming about the farm.

This is something George does because he doesn't want Lennie to be shot by Curly and the other guys, or that he may can go into a jail, and in that time early ...
