Juliet was already married to Romeo and was in love with him but her mother doesn’t know this and insisted that she is to marry Paris. Lord Capulet, Juliet’s father came into her room just after Juliet refused to marry Paris. Lord Capulet shouted at Juliet and threw her to the floor. He tried to attack her but the Nurse stopped this and protected Juliet.
Juliet and Lady Capulet are very close to each other. Juliet’s mother cares about her very much and she really tries to be the best mother she can to her. Lady Capulet believes that she’s a good parent by trying to convince Juliet to marry Paris, as she thinks this is what is best for her. Lady Capulet loves Juliet, as any parent would. She tried to stand up for Juliet when her father was trying to attack her. Juliet always had the deepest amount of respect for her mother, but ever since she tried to get Juliet to marry Paris their relationship with each other began to break down.
Lord Capulet has a completely different relationship with his daughter than what Lady Capulet does with her. They both seemed to get along with each other up until this point but they never seemed to be as close what Juliet was with her mother. Juliet really loved Romeo and when her mother told her she was to marry Paris completely broke her heart. She didn’t love Paris, she loved Romeo and he was who she wanted to be with.
Lord Capulet wouldn’t give in with Juliet when she said she was not going to marry Paris. She had to marry Paris whether she liked it or not wish was very harsh. Juliet was going to be upset about this, but with her father shouting at her even more just made it even worse. Someone in the modern day audience is bound to think that it was an awful thing that Lord Capulet was trying to do. If Juliet loves Romeo she should be with him and nobody else. It’s not up to Lord Capulet to decide who her daughter marries, its Juliet’s own choice.
Lord Capulet wasn’t thinking about Juliet’s feelings at all when he told her she was to marry Paris, he was bullying her into it. He thought that what he says goes, and this is not the case in this story. Juliet is already in love and married to Romeo, she does not do as what she is told. He should not be doing this to Juliet and the modern day audience will agree with this and know that it is wrong.
Juliet is close to only a few people in her life. The person that is most important to Juliet (besides Romeo) is the Nurse. She loves Juliet as if she is family, or as if she is her daughter. The Nurse covered up the fact that Juliet was seeing Romeo and kept it a secret from her parents. The Nurse would do anything for Juliet and she wouldn’t let anything happen to her.
Juliet loves both her parents very much and the Nurse very much and she couldn’t live without them in her life. It’s hard for Juliet to be in this situation because she’s stuck between love and family. Her parents don’t understand that she doesn’t want to marry Paris because she loves Romeo. Juliet is petrified in case her parents find out about her being with Romeo. She has a very hard decision to make is stuck in a very complicated dilemma.
