It is linked to the rest of the organisation as follows: As it is a very small company many of the departments overlap and are managed by the same people. All decisions are made centrally by the owner. There is also outside influences such as the two manufacturers of the ice cream. Initial Statement of Problem The current system used for ordering ice cream from the manufacturer is paper based. Each week the remaining ice cream in the cold store is counted physically counted and recorded manually. Many problems arise from this, as the system is not reliable. How ICT has affected my life at home or school In this task I will give details about how ICT has affected my school and social life. I will include my use of software like Microsoft word, internet, email and Lime wire. These programs have helped me on my class work and homework and they have also helped me keep in touch with my family and friends and also have improved my social life. There are many other uses of ICT like USB Flash Drives, mp3 players, and DVD's. My Social Use Microsoft Word Processor ICT has helped me in so many ways to make my social life easy. To improve my letter writing I use Microsoft word processor which is software that enables people to input a piece of writing. This software has assisted me to improve my home work with the help of different tools. I get pleasure from typing up work as it is a lot easier and neater than writing with a pen. Comparing Documents My second task is to compare a few different documents of three different organisations, the three organisations are: . JJ PC 2. Wessex Water 3. Coffee Control JJPC sells computers, Wessex Water is a water company and Coffee Control is and internet café. I have to annotate the three documents, describe the content and layout, comment on the differences, similarities and finally come to a conclusion of each document. Comparing Questionnaires A questionnaire is a form containing a set of questions. JJPC's logo has been placed in the top right hand corner and it is orange, their logo is just simple and bulky, in my opinion I think that this is great because the audience will be able to see it as it should be seen. Coffee control have two logos one on each side but it is very small, their logo has a picture of a mug in it, which is black and gives the customer an idea of what the questionnaire is about. The colour of coffee controls logo is turquoise and white. Project 1A - Webpage's We need to make a website. To do this successfully we will have to gather information from the internet and use our own knowledge to create a reliable website. We will also have to use different ways of presenting our website. This will widen our knowledge of how to create websites. My website is going to be about Tokio Hotel. It will be a challenge to gather non biased information about the band because generally people only create a website of a band to express their strong like/dislike of the band. I have an interest in the band and it will defiantly be an enjoyable task. It will be aimed at kids of my age group. This means that though it will have to be quite an informal piece I will be able to have fun with it. It will have to be a 'lively' website to capture and retain the audience's interest. Turn computer on and log onto the computer. 2. Then once the computer has loaded up double click on the icon which looks like this: 3. Then this window appears and to access the video shop databases double click on OTHER folder. 5. Then another window appears and shows you what the other folder contains. Social, moral and cultural implications of ICT The increase in development of ICT has had large impact on the society that we live in. Each new development in information technology raises new social, economic, ethical and moral issues. Worldwide developments in communication technology via mobile, satellite, wireless and cable will continue to enhance Internet access and change many aspects of our lives. For example, advancements in technology have made huge changes in the way shops are run. Most large shops now have Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) terminals, which are cash registers that also act as terminals to a main computer system and till receipts are produced. Developing a Business
Ownership The type of ownership for the business will be a partnership. This is the most obvious choice as there are two people involved, my business partner and me. A partnership can involve between two and twenty partners allowing for further expansion and more financial backing if needed. The partnership would be owned in a ratio of 60:40, me owning 60%. This means we would share the cash input and profits and losses in this ratio, which is bad in the short-term for me, but hopefully good in the long-term. A partnership brings additional expertise from all the partners. A formal partnership agreement would have to be drawn up to settle any disputes. The problems with a partnership are that there is unlimited liability meaning that it is possible to lose personal possessions e.g. car and house, and that there is limited cash input. Cash would only be available internally and with loans. The alternative was a private limited company (ltd.) which would have a larger financial backing and limited liability to the value of shareholding, but in the long-term there is less profit and less control when shareholders come in to the plan as well as high set-up costs.Limited companies also have to pay more tax. Brief The new London Millennium Eye is possibly biggest sightseeing experience in the world. When I went to it in half term I found that queing in the ticket office and the boarding gate was very boring and you had to wait a long time. I aim to design a spreadsheet which will assist in the running of the eye and provide people with and provide customers with an estimated waiting time depending on the number of people who go though the ticket office. Proposal I have recently been to the London Millennium Eye. When we arrived we had to queue for ages. I will use ICT to predict queuing problems at the Ultimate Sightseeing Experience (The London Eye). I aim to solve this problem by designing a spreadsheet using Microsoft(r) Excel XP. This will hopefully be able to simulate a day at the eye. For example you can type in the number of people visiting and it will tell you how many capsules are needed and whether there will be queuing or not. It will also display the waiting time for people at different point in the queue (Front, middle, back). This system is designed for the managers of the eye and can be used on the main London management computer. For this system to work probably it will require the information about how many capsules are currently available, how many are booked privately and how many are out of service.
