Different types of technology How I use ICT at home and at school

Unit 3a - Different types of technology How I use ICT at home and at school In our current generation, the advances of mankind have been significantly massive. With technology such as laptops, iPads and such, old fashioned technology has been deemed insignificant. Just an iPad would have the capability blowing away the greatest technology from, for example, 10 or so years ago. And thus, technology is constantly being used; from ways to help advance and develop the world further on to being used for personal relief/enjoyment. But what benefits can we gain from using these technologies and why do we constantly use and depend on them over and over? Well, there are many different advantages to using technology and well as different uses the basics being - personal usage, social usage and home usage and each of these uses have their different benefits. Personal usage covers uses that benefit mostly the user him/herself, whether that may be at work, at home or even on the road. Social usage covers uses which are not only beneficial to the user him/herself, but also involves society with different interactions with the user and other members of society, whether on a social networking site or an instant messaging service. And lastly, home usage covers uses which are simply used at home whether that may be for comfort, general purposes or just for entertainment. Technology

System requirements analysis

Task 1 System requirements analysis My software needs to have a menu page with macros working appropriately, for example the macro taking you to the appointments page and/or posting appointments record appointments, store patient records, working dropdown menus/combo boxes which have a valid index form. The health centre needs to have a booking software that is done on computer rather that by paper. This is because it Is quicker and more efficient. the booking software needs to have valid, up-to-date patient records with their doctors. It needs to have a valid date and time for booking an appointment. The software needs to also be protected to ensure that outsiders do not obtain these records and/or change details. .1 Identifying Problem and Solution a) Identify the problem to be solved (A02.11) There are several problems, which need to be solved. The centre does not have the correct hardware of software that should be used. The health centre requires an electronic system rather than one on paper. The receptionist cannot keep writing out appointments, as it is very time consuming. It is hard to correct invalid date and the receptionist's handwriting may not be legible. This is why computer-based software is better and more efficient. The software that will be used also needs to be a new one as it is difficult using the older, less developed software. The health centre

The end user of my program is for the people applying for the insurance their private cars the information will not be seen by them but details will be passed through to the telephone assistant who is the main end user. The information that is proposed to the present user is going to be on screen for the telephone assistant and in the form of a confirmation for the customer applying for the insurance. The methods of reproductions that are going to be used is the mail merge that is going to link the onscreen info inputted by the telephone assistant to a written word statement that will be merged into the current customers details, the copies that will be needed depends on the customers request for a backup copy of the conformation form but is essential that the Hawks company print one copy for the customer and save a copy for future references the copies will be needed if it is ever required to check up on the customers or for the Hawks company to receive the rest of their remaining balance from that customer. The only data that will change the outcome of the price is if the customer has changed their current Car, their address or chooses to change their current car cover plan. The current system will cost the company a lot of money because at the moment customers forms are taking over 30 half an hour to complete this means more telephone staff are required which means more

Unit 3-ICT and Society- Working Adult The Person I have chosen for my working adult is Mark Ward (Retail manager) of Woolworths in Greenford on Marylebone road; it is also the place where I had the opportunity to do my work experience there and investigate how is ICT used in their everyday lifestyle for all sorts of reasons. Mark usually makes sure that every employee has a job to do and they are doing their job properly, if you require any assistance or if you have any queries about something then he is the individual you need to go to. Mark also works around the store just like any other employee and makes sure everything is going well and that everyone is undertaking the job they have been given to do. Woolworth is a Retail shop; they have on which people can shop online at www.woolworths.co.uk and have can have their products delivered home to them within 5 working days. They have a huge team of employees who are properly and highly trained and they know how to handle difficult situations in difficult circumstances. They are very sensitive about health and safety and especially about the safety of their member of staff. They have a very good record of history of health and safety, to them health and safety of their employees and the customers is more important then anything else. Woolworths is not a big organisation so it doesn't have other organisations as their

The impact of ICT on a person with special/particular needs

3C - The impact of ICT on a person with special/particular needs Introduction Over 10% of the world's population suffers from a variety of different disabilities. These different disabilities all hold certain negative effects on each person affecting their ability to work as effectively as their co-workers, understand and comprehend things as easily as others, focus and concentrate on topics at hand or affecting the movement of a part of their body. Out of the thousands of different disabilities out there, all of these have their different negative effect and although not every single disability may do so, the majority of these mental or physical disabilities limit the person's potential and ability to function normally. However, with ICT and the development of technology, these limits have often been conquered to allow people with a certain disability to function to the best of their natural ability allowing them to uphold their position as a normal or even upstanding citizen in the workplace and in everyday life. An excellent example would be Stephen Hawking, one of the most highly redeemed physicist and cosmologist and famously known to the general public all around the world. He suffers from a disease called Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis which essentially attacks and over time critically corrodes all of his neurological functions affecting his motor neurones and

Develop a spreadsheet application for the Ibis Hotel.

Identify Objective The objective of the coursework is to develop a spreadsheet application for the Ibis Hotel. In the coursework I will discuss four main steps of software development- Identify, Analysis, Design and Implementation & Testing. Using the application software, the hotel can manage its staff and business efficiently and effectively. The objective of the coursework is to produce computerised business letter (using mail merge and other features instead of using a type writer). This is being done so that Ibis Hotel can publish their good works into the open environment and have more people visiting the hotel. This has been done so that the staff at Ibis Hotel will become more relaxed with their work. I will also create labels for the staff so that the hotel can use it for different purposes. E.g. used at the back on envelopes to give a sophisticated look. The two objectives of the coursework are - understanding of the software development and to use varieties of tools and techniques to meet the client requirements. Introduction Ibis hotel is a two star hotel in Stratford, and has 55 bedrooms, all with bathrooms and toilets. I am going to carry out my coursework assignment on the improvement on the computerisation of the hotel by using Information Technology. The hotel is dependant on a great deal on manual administrative work. I have checked with the hotel and

Adam Property Maintenance - System analysis.

Identification of the Problem to be Solved System analysis Introduction to the project The organisation that I have decided to work on for my AS computing project is called Adam Property Maintenance (APM), it has been established for almost eight years now. It is a private limited company, which specialises in repairing and maintaining services for homes and businesses. Although the company is a small organisation there are a lot of other property maintenance companies in the greater London area to compete with. There seems to be a lot of interest in the company since the company moved from there last location in Wembley and the local community has accepted that the company is a good organisation with a lot of skilled engineers. The organisation currently employs sixteen employees currently of which include their fleet of about eight engineers. APM does maintenance work for private, local, housing association, estate agents and other such types of buildings. Adam Property Maintenance is located on Sudbury Heights Ave. Below is a Map showing where it is. As you can see from the map of the area there are a lot of local residential areas which can make use of the company's services. A roads which are leading to and from the area give the company easy access to the rest of North London and its suburbs if the engineers are called out to a property maintenance job The working
