It is unusual for a newspaper to publish an article by a child as young as James. Why do you think the editor of the Independent decided to publish both articles as companion pieces?

The words Big school big trauma build up suspense for the new boys and also the parents because they will want to know what the trauma is. The second article is called Starting School when I am a parent this heading wouldn't affect me because I know that the children are staring school but I don't know about the trauma involved. This use of words is called Illatration when one heading has the exact same letter as the second sentence.

Some of the words used in Celia Dodd's piece are Similes words used are Small fish in a big pond this shows the change from primary school to secondary school (Crossroads). In James's piece he only explains about his worries like when he says if you don't do your homework you get killed. In Celia's article the language is formal because to back up the proof of nothing changing she uses two Professors the first Professor John Ruddock says that little has changed in ten years and the second Ted Wragg said that something nothing can be done to change the fears of the pupils.

The point of these two articles is to inform pupils and parents of the trauma some young boys go through on entering a new school we have herd from two top Professors and they say that nothing can be changed because ten years ago it was the same old thing children worried about their new school.

The effect on the reader would be great because when he/she turns to the page that these two articles are on. They will be dragged towards the big heading entitled Big School Big Trauma and immediately want to know what is the trauma.

The main point of this article is that it shows the transtition from primary school to secondary school. In the article we see a first person narrative and a second person narrative the first person is ovcourse James Bateson the school boy and Celia Dodd the newspaper writer for the Independent newspaper.
