I will count people who are less than seventeen years old as children.

Because the town is too big to fid out the number of children in every house, I have decided to choose five streets at random from the 876 streets on the list on the A-Z map of Mapton Bridge. This might not work very well because the street may not have any

Houses. For example one street might be in an industrial estate. I need to have streets in different parts of the town to covert he difference across the town. If I do not get enough houses, or all the streets are in part of Mepton Bridge, I might need to extend my sample by picking some more streets.

I will work out the mean, the median, the mode and the range for each street so that I can compare the streets. This will help decide whether my sample is biased in any way, because I want it to be typical of the towns as a whole. I will also work out the same information for all houses together to get estimates for the whole town. I will use the estimate for the mean to compare Mepton Bridge with the whole country.

I will work out the percentage of houses in each street with families of different sizes. I will use a bar graph to compare the sizes of families in ach street and a pie chart to show he proportion of houses with different numbers of children in Mepton Bridge.

I need five streets, so l picked the frist five numbers that were not bigger than 876 because there are 876 streets in the town.

I then went down the alphabetical list of streets and picked these streets:
