Early in the 21st century, the Tyrell Corporation, advanced robot evolution into the nexus phase - a being virtually identical to a human - known as a replicant. These replicants had superior strength and quality, they were used off-world as slave labour in a colonization of other planets. However they still only have a four year life span and have no feelings and emotions. They were treated almost like robots and "coffee making machines, as they were slaves." After a bloody mutiny in an off world colony, Replicants were declared illegal on earth, under the penalty of death. Special police squads known as Blade Runner Units had the job to kill any trespassing replicants. Rick Deckard (played by Harrison Ford), ex-cop, ex-Blade Runner, and ex-killer, is forced by the police boss to return to his former profession of Replicant Hunter (Blade Runner.) He is assigned to eliminate four Replicants who fled the slavery of the colonies and came to Earth. Before starting the job Deckard visits the Tyrell Corporation where he meets Rachel, a "Replicant" girl created as an experiment, with whom he falls in love with. After some investigations, he is able to discover the first of the four Replicants, Zhora. There starts a relentless pursuit through the streets of the Metropolis in which Deckard succeeds in eliminating Zhora but is himself attacked by another of the replicants, Leon.

This coursework aims to decode the representational code in and advert which is trying to sell laptop computers.

English GCSE Media Analysis Coursework This coursework aims to decode the representational code in and advert which is trying to sell laptop computers. The target receiver groups are either teenagers interested in buying newer faster laptops, students at university who need to work efficiently and want to maximize their space or large businesses and business men that move around, so they will need a fast, portable solution; a laptop (also known as notebook PC's). I will be analysing 3 different adverts: ) Samsung Q10 Digital Notebook 2) Sony VAIO PCG-NV109M 3) Asus L3 Pentium IV Series I will be looking at the signifiers each one of them represents, for example if it uses the colour silver, its could be interpreted as a signifier to tell us that this is a high-class product. Also I will be looking to see how the advert is connotated (an individuals interpretation of the picture/advert/image) or how it is denotated (the facts about the picture/advert/image). Usually the signifiers would be colour, camera focus, camera angle, positioning (in the foreground and background), stereotype etc... The Samsung Q10 Digital Notebook advert is advertising the new Samsung Q10 digital notebook. The advert has two main sections, the image and the copy with the product illustration. The image section has the main picture of the Q10, and has a man in the background. Also in this

Media Course Work "In the Nick of Time".

Media Course Work "In the Nick of Time" Why have V.W. Audi created this advertisement to sell their cars? "Advertising" is making a product or service known to the public. One can advertise on television, radio and billboards. Advertising on television and radio reaches mass audiences. A common advertising technique is to have a short simple catchphrase, often put to a tune which is very catchy, so that people remember the product. When advertising on billboards it's a good idea not to have too complex an advert so that it can be remembered and digested in a second. Advertisers direct their advert at a target audience. A target audience is the group of consumers an advert is aimed at. Every aspect of an advert is tailored to appeal to the target audience. One way of making sure the advert reaches the right audience is to air them at different times; for instance adverts for toys are aired during the mid-afternoon as this is when children are watching television, having returned from school. The advert "In the Nick of Time" advertises a "new generation" Audi car. It is targeted at a growing, modern, wealthy family. We know it is targeted at a family because the advert features a family as its main characters, we can tell the family is wealthy because even though the price of the car is not stated, it is evident that this is so since the house is impressive looking,

In the following essay, I intend to explore the way the film, Ice age 3: Dawn of the dinosaurs is promoted using posters and trailers.

Media- Film The most popular time for going to see films is in the summer. This is because many children are on summer holiday from school. Going to see films is a form of escape for everyone; the cinema is reasonable priced and can be universally enjoyed. To ensure a film's success as a summer blockbuster, film promoters use a number of techniques to appeal to their target audience and attract cinema goers. Films are promoted by many different forms of advertisement. Promoters use movie trailers or teasers to attract their target audience to gain interest and make the target audience really want to see the films when it is released. Movie trailers or teasers can be seen on television through advertisement and also can been seen on the internet. Films are also advertised by poster and through radio. This summer a number of big blockbuster films are about to hit the screens. Due for general release this summer are films like G-Force, Aliens in the attic, Harry Potter and the half blood prince, Ice age 3, Bandslam and Transformers 2. In the following essay, I intend to explore the way the film, Ice age 3: Dawn of the dinosaurs is promoted using posters and trailers. Advertisers in media.

Year 11 GCSE Media Coursework Like poets and writers, advertisers use a similar technique to empathise specific points to the target audience. Advertisers use more of visual images than text, this is not a disadvantage as it has been said that 'a picture can paint a 1000 words'. The advertiser can say many things, just like a poem, there can be many things hidden behind the meaning, making you look further into the piece, finding the purpose and reasoning. The picture is a composition of words; we are a media dominated age and are more indoctrinated and used to visual images. There are suggestions used in the picture that can be the same influence as what's used in poems and stories. Words create pictures and if you use the correct techniques then maybe pictures can create words. Being a media dominated age we are sophisticated in looking at photos and pictures and we can read them as if they are words put together like a story. Advertisers construct advertisements by using a combination of physical codes within a still or moving image to create the same emotions but without using a lot of text. These codes empathise specific points to a target audience. For the purpose of this essay the encoded advert will be deconstructed in order to understand the 'message'. Adverts use a number of codes to encode their message; they are written, visual and symbolic. Reference to an

Which Methods do advertisers use to sell their products?

Which Methods do advertisers use to sell their products? Techniques An advertiser needs to be very aware of the type of person that they are aiming to sell their product to. They also need to consider what is likely to motivate that person to buy their product. This is so that they can create the right image for their product and can persuade people to buy it. Advertisers have to create a strong image for their product; this means that they will link it in a customer's mind with the type of person that they think they are or, more to the point, that they would like to be. The image that an advertiser creates depends on which group they are aiming to sell to: a good example of an advertisement directed at children is the Pringles pop-box one where a child is obviously starting a new school and is feeling a bit isolated. At lunchtime they have a pop- box and so do all the other kids, the child immediately fits in and is accepted. The advertisers know that children can pressurise their parents into buying them certain snacks (so called 'pester power') so they show an image that will appeal to kids, everyone wants to 'fit in' and be popular and they play on this. You could comment on when adverts are shown as a way of looking at the target group. You only have to watch Saturday morning television to see what kids will be asking their parents for! Advertisements do tend to

Prepare a feasibility study for a business with a view to acquire a vacant property and develop it for a new business.

Business Studies Coursework I have been asked to prepare a feasibility study for a business with a view to acquire a vacant property and develop it for a new business. I am planning to choose a business in the Earl's Court Rd area. There are a number of businesses under consideration. The underlying consideration for selecting a business would be the long-term survival and profitability of the business. The road that has the shop premises vacant and available already has an assortment of shops. However there is a large catchments area as well that is a mixture of residential area and hotels. The businesses under review are Newspaper shop, Internet Café,, Bureau de exchange and a flower shop. In order to attain my objective I would need to research the pros and cons of all types of businesses mentioned above. To do this, I would research into all aspects of a business, conducting a survey of the area, interviewing local people, using books, people and computer resources. I will create plans to help me, evaluate and redesign them as I proceed during the project. The reason for doing plans is to help keep track and organise what I am doing and it also shows points that I should cover for my study to implement it successfully. I have observed the Earl's Court area very carefully for a number of days and tabulated a schedule showing the number of shops in each category
