We had to change the time of our run, and when we had met up to discuss what we where going to do, there was always a person missing. We had to reschedule many times. Also we were aiming for a much higher amount but we were satisfied with £50 although around £75 was the target.
Our project clearly changes the environment, England and the rest of the world. Recycling helps save energy and cause less pollution, which is a global act. Improving the environment around us, helps to improve the quality of the air, this particularly helps young children and older people who may suffer from breathing difficulties. We also undertook the responsibility of independent work. Our cooperation was excellent and therefore we were able to work together and spread the work load evenly on ability and was a team effort truly. The money that we had donated effects the public, the Earth and everything living on it! There aims are for
-
preventing by ending our addiction to polluting fuels and promoting clean, renewable and efficient energy
-
for the protection of and
-
For the elimination of
-
against the release of into nature
The £50 donated will help pay for research so that we can give Government and industry the real facts. I would have thought Friends of the Earth would use the money on improving the Earth directly but, obviously the world needs to know what’s going on in order to make a change.
All of us had strong personal opinions on why people can’t recycle paper or glass bottles. It’s effortless to put your empty water bottle in the recycling bin. It’s so very easy to put your Twix wrapper wear it belongs—in the same bin. And, it’s painless to put that empty cereal box in that blue bin .Did you know that recycling two glass bottle provides enough energy to boil 5 cups of tea or coffee! -
The possibilities are endless! I believe in this quote as everything almost can be recycled and there is no need of cutting down more trees in order to get more paper when we all could jus think and recycle! Each tonne of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil; 3 cubic yards of land fill space, 4000kw of energy and 7000 gallons of water! Also 70% less energy is required to recycle paper compared with making it from raw materials.
There are hundreds of websites about recycling and about saving the earth from global warming. “The solutions exist, but we must act now, TODAY! Individuals working together will help tackle this problem.” This is my favourite quote as it gets people to think right there and then and know what’s going to happen if we don’t act quickly!
My opinion if I already haven’t made it clear is that everyone should recycle save energy being wasted, meaning the Earth will be in less danger of Global warming, or donate to a environmental group looking out for us.
In this course work, I have learnt how to be more liable, making decisions, co-operating and work together. I had also learnt about how recycling works and the idea of reusing-its genius, and how to keep the Earth our home. In addition to that I have learnt who and how to contact people to get Recycling to enforced, and to be heard amongst the rest.
I really enjoyed working as a group and univocally, writing letters to MPs, handing out leaflets, sticking posters on notice boards but I feel, some people didn’t take it seriously enough. Recycling is plainly returning an item back to its original condition so that it can be reused. I think project has given me the chance to prove my responsibility.
I think in the end of the project, we all learnt something new about everyone: in the group, e.g. what they are good at, what they don’t like if we all knew this from before we would have saved a lot of time. Everyone in the group has worked hard and we met up in the holidays to talk about the evaluation, so we care about this.
My contribution to the group
To inform people about our act and to get more sponsors I made a leaflet and poster to be on the notice board or sent out in the registers. Also emailed Friends of the Earth and help make a logo. This will hopefully get people attention.
How I worked with my group
Jason, Steven, Prit and me was the group. I knew Prit and Steven before Nowerhill, which made it easier. Me and Prit discussed and planned it a lot as we live close to each other. I have got to know Jason a lot now, and I am good friends with him. We all got along and compromised. We agree on most things and that’s why I think our project was so successful.
My strengths
My strengths were to let people know what we were doing, promotion, advertisement via leaflets, posters. Also, I worked on it at home, and not only in lessons improving the quality. We all listen to everyone, their wasn’t a leader. We all co-operated I think that’s a skill. Also running the miles was a challenge that we thought we should do to play our part in saving the environment.
My Weaknesses
My weakness for this project was that I could have taken more part and tried to raise more money, to meet up more often and send the money off earlier so maybe we would have got a reply. I think we would have got a reply if we kept emailing them or called them several times. In the end we were only helping them to help us.
What I would do differently
I would have planned this task, look at all the options to raise money for, we might change the way we raised the money to a cake sale or lemonade sale: we would probably have raised more knowing school children crave for cakes and drinks. We would have sold them at a high price for easy profit.
What I would keep the same
I would keep up the hard work, and keep the same group. Keep the jobs we had to do individually. Keep the recycling idea, and maybe go for Green peace rather Friends of the Earth, never the less, they are both helping the environment.
In conclusion, I have learnt how to look after the Earth, and to recycle when we can. I think we should all watch over the earth, by recycling and using renewable sources rather to non-renewable. If we don’t take care of our world we are going to suffer. In addition I’ve a lot of social skills which I will need in everyday life, improving my courtesy.
As you can see above, we have all met are targets, and have done what the group have expected and have done everything we’ve planned.
