Citizenship For my Citizenship coursework I will be raising money for the Asian earthquake appeal by doing a sponsored fast. I aim to raise as much money as possible for the Asian earthquake appeal.

Citizenship Coursework Stage 1 - Plan For my Citizenship coursework I will be raising money for the Asian earthquake appeal by doing a sponsored fast. I aim to raise as much money as possible for the Asian earthquake appeal. I will be working along side a friend of mine; Louis Baxter. By working with Louis I feel the fast will be easier, as I will have someone to share the difficulties of the fast with, and we will be able to help each other through it. I know Louis from my form at school, this makes it easy for us to converse and organise the activity. The only difficulty that working with Louis poses, is that being without food for a day may make us both very stressed, which could lead to us arguing and becoming annoyed with each other. During the planning stage we discussed various different activities that we could do. One such activity was to put on an after school football training session for primary school children in order to give them an enjoyable after school club as this was something that both me and Louis enjoyed while we were at primary school. We decided against this though, as we felt that we could do something that is focused on helping those that need it most. While we were discussing what activity to do, the Asian earthquake took place. The earthquake measured 7.6 on the Richter scale and decimated parts of northern Pakistan and northern India. The

Princess bride

Jessy McMahon CU Eng B/3 Book Critique The Princess Bride The book The Princess Bride by William Goldman, is a very classic and unique fantasy of history and never-ending love. Goldman creates characters within this book that not only have a great sense of humor and realism through the imagery he uses, but they also overcome various life long battles and are given somewhat of supernatural powers in many instances in the story. One major point that will not go overlooked in this book is that Goldman always places love above everything else, and allows his characters to do almost anything whether it's impossible or improbable for true love and honor. Goldman uses many literary techniques that intensify and liven up the writing many including satire, diction, underlying symbols, stunning imagery, but most of all he uses the most creative and astonishing character analysis. Goldman uses these unique characteristics in each of the characters to better illustrate the story, thus making it more impressive, heroic and epic with a bit of a satire twist within the book. In addition, these superior qualities make the characters' flaws and mistakes even more charming and funny, with seeing them in contrast with such prominence and magnitude. For example Goldman gives Humperdinck, the skills of a great huntsman; Inigo, the grace and speed of sword fighting; Fezzik, who happens to be

My anlysis of the front page of a tabloid

My analysis of the front page of a Tabloid The word tabloid newspaper makes me think of a newspaper that is brief, informal and cheap. Tabloids are easily recognisable by their huge headlines and pictures, which contrast with very brief articles. I am studying the Daily Mirror from Friday the 29th of October 2004, the northern edition priced 35p. The main news event of the day is "ANGRY AND NERVOUS" a biased story about British troops in Iraq . The secondary lead was "Monty's new birdie: life's all so wonderful" which has no article but two pictures and appears to be about a golfer going out with a model. In my opinion the main focus of the page is the headline "ANGRY AND NERVOUS". This is the title of an article about troops serving in Iraq. Headlines take up most of the page, just over two thirds. The font is bold and contrasting, either light on a dark background or dark on a light background. The newspapers editor has chosen to do this to grab the readers attention so they will buy the newspaper. The main headline and masthead are capitalised to add effect, which is very eye catching. The main headline uses shock tactics to make you concerned and interested. 'Angry' and 'nervous' are very passionate and agressive words. The use of the headline "ANGRY AND NERVOUS" attracts the readers attention as they want to know who is angry and nervous as they are very

MaRKETING ACTIVITIES

Marketing Activities Marketing is an important element of customer service provision. All staff are involved in marketing to some extent, whether it is in the actual planning and implementation of promotions or through knowledge of such promotions and the use of effective selling skills. One of the key issues in customer service delivery is the provision of information and advice to customers. This means that staff need to have a sound knowledge of the organisation and the products and services it offers. In order to provide information and advice, staff need to have a sound knowledge of the range of products and services offered by their organisation. They should be able to dispense product information that meets their customer's needs and expectations and ensures total satisfaction. The sort of information that staff may need to be able to supply will vary according to the organisation and its customers. However, typical product knowledge might include: * Knowledge of the company and its operating divisions * The main features of all products and services offered * The suitability of products and services for different types of customers * Prices (including special offers and discounts) * Location and direction * Staffing * Health and safety and security procedures * Other local information (such as nearby attractions, medical facilities, transport etc).

Original Writing - Rescue From The Sewers

Original Writing Coursework Matt felt the grip loosen from his throat, and he fell to the hard floor with a resounding thud. He could smell something distinct, overpowering, pungent, yet nothing he could quite place. He started choking on the gag, and wrinkled his nose. A shape, dark and humanoid, dropped onto the floor. It stretched, then crouched quickly, and made its way into the shadows. Matt felt his hands being lifted up behind his back, and he started to panic. Slowly, so agonizingly slowly, the rope, which had previously been holding his hands together, was untied. The same hands, he correctly presumed, lifted his blindfold, and then all Matt could see was the constricting darkness. After a while, a light shone around and he could see a crowd of pipes and puddles in front of him. The shape stood up and, during the motion, took the man's hands and started to untie the cord holding them together. She got out a torch, and flashed it around the room. "Are you alright?" A voice, female, invited him to talk. "Err, mostly. My wrists are a bit sore, but other than that I feel fine. Who are you?" She answered with God-like speed "You don't need to know my name. But, you can call me C." Matt was taken aback with the speed of the answer, and wondered what she must do for a living to be helping so well. Matt attempted to glance over his shoulder, but before he got even

Do racist attitudes and behaviour exist within the English premier league and if so how can they be eliminated?

Do racist attitudes and behaviour exist within the English premier league and if so how can they be eliminated? In my investigation, I will be exploring racist attitudes and behaviour within the premier league. The reason I chose this title is because I feel involved in the topic being and football fan myself, I would like to understand others opinions on the subject. My research will take two parts; I will conduct primary and secondary research. The primary research will be my collected data such as questionnaires I have created and handed out to English premier league football club fans on the subject. My secondary research will be previously gathered information that has been published on either the internet or in books or in newspapers and magazines. I predict that from creating this essay, my findings will show that racism attitudes and behaviour is a problem in the English premiere football league. I believe I will find that many fans are either insulted or humiliated by others attitudes at their teams club and so will result in some fans feeling unable to attend matches. I believe my results will prove that racism attitudes and/or behaviour is a serious problem and should be dealt with and wiped out from premier league football. What is racism? Discrimination of colour is known as racism. Discrimination and racism are present in all societies worldwide. They both

However, customers do not only pay for the food when they visit a McDonald's restaurant. Lots of products are included in the price. A McDonald's product is not just about what they sell. The product is all about what the company puts its money on. The first product the customers pay for is the fast service because customers need not wait for a long time and staff should get their food out quickly. Quick service is part of the McDonald's product. Service also includes people who cook in the kitchen. Not only that the customers also pay for the cleaners to clean the restaurant and to keep it hygienic. McDonald's uses packaging to keep food, fresh, hot and light. McDonald's used polystyrene foam for packaging but now they use cardboard because it saves the environment and it's also can be recycled very easily. Customers are paying for the packing and the nutrition value in the box. Customers also pay for the drive thru because they do not have to park their car and get out. They can just get their products while they're in the car. This stops the restaurant from being over crowded. Customers find this very quick and convenient. Besides, the customers also pay for the adult and kids section
