Abortion and Euthanasia

Daniel McCormick S2B Religion 5th Year Coursework Abortion and Euthanasia Explain the beliefs that Christians hold about their responsibilities to those at the beginning and end of their lives. Explain the beliefs that Christians hold about their responsibilities to those at the beginning and end of their lives. The general belief about life and its beginning is that life is a gift from God which only God can take away. As Ecclesiastes 3:2 says "He sets the time for birth and the time for death". Also preservation and protection of life are central to the teachings of Christianity. It is also the belief of many people that all humans are made in the image and likeness of God. Gen 1:26-27 says "God created man in his own image, male and female he created them". All Christians believe that it is special to God and each person is sacred and holy. Each individual is unique. There is a diversity of views among Christians about when life actually begins. On the one hand The Roman Catholic position is 'Pro-Life' and 'Anti-Abortion'. This means that life begins at conception. Psalm 139 supports this, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made. Your eyes saw my unformed body" this implies that a foetus is recognised by God, and should be recognised by Christians as a person. Also one of the Ten

Statistics Coursework

The topic I am investigating for my coursework is about used cars. The data I am using for this investigation is secondary data; this data has been given by the teacher. I took a sample of 40 data out of 204 by using a random number generator on a calculator; this is how I got each number: (SHIFT) Ran# * 204 (Total Population) = Random Number The reason as to why I decided to do random sampling is because it's fair and is not bias; furthermore, every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected. If I got the same number twice, I would do the process again to get a different number. Below is a table of all the numbers I got using a "random number generator" on a calculator: Actual Random Number Nearest to Whole Number Ran# * 204 = 34.254 34 Ran# * 204 = 165.799 66 Ran# * 204 = 64.18 64 Ran# * 204 = 29.360 29 Ran# * 204 = 79.433 79 Ran# * 204 = 138.694 39 Ran# * 204 = 21.855 22 Ran# * 204 = 197.44 97 Ran# * 204 = 56.231 56 Ran# * 204 = 26.074 26 Ran# * 204 = 149.762 50 Ran# * 204 = 138.03 38 Ran# * 204 = 74.458 74 Ran# * 204 = 109.615 10 Ran# * 204 = 69.95 70 Ran# * 204 = 115.211 15 Ran# * 204 = 162.98 63 Ran# * 204 = 156.28 56 Ran# * 204 = 90.71 91 Ran# * 204 = 116.013 16 Ran# * 204 = 50.679 51 Ran# * 204 = 133.42 33 Ran# * 204 = 144.257 44 Ran# * 204 = 2.774 3 Ran# * 204 = 62.43 62 Ran# * 204 = 88.512

swot analysis

Swot analysis Colchester zoo The swot Analysis at Colchester Zoo is: * Strengths * Weaknesses * Opportunities * Threats The strengths at Colchester zoo are: Colchester zoo has become number one zoo in the South East of England, Where it attracts a lot of visitors from all over the world. All of these visitors love to come to see the famous baby Elephant, Elephants have babies every forty years or so, so this is your chance to see a baby Elephant for yourself . Another Strength at Colchester zoo has to be that the zoo is reasonably priced; the zoo is priced for an Adult is £13.99 and for other concessions are £7.75. Another Strength at Colchester zoo is that the zoo is good transport linked; all the main roads lead to Colchester, so it's easier to get to as well. Finally what else is a Strength is the African Zone. The African Zone has all the animals from Africa where they gather up into a big group of animals. The weaknesses at Colchester zoo are; Colchester zoo has become a reduction in number of group sales such as; There Toy Shop at the end of Colchester zoo doesn't earn a lot of money because they sell their products for too much, such as; For a little stuffed toy cost over £10, etc. Another weak point at Colchester zoo is space; They need to enlarge the zoo, because just after visiting the African Zone, there is a massive space with nothing there,

Should cannabis be legalised

Should Cannabis be legalised? This issue is linked to citizenship because it is to do with the law and health. I am interested in this subject because it causes a lot of controversy. It has a chemical tetrahydrocannabinol which causes psychological and physical effects when consumed. Some of long term effects are : breathing problems , loss of coordiantion and weak immune system. Cannabis can be an addictive. Withdrawal symptoms are moodiness , headaches , lack of appetite and depression. It is used for recreational , religious reasons (Rastafarianism) and medical purposes for pain , asthma , eating disorders and many other health problems. David Cameron , the Conservative leader , admitted to smoking cannabis when he was 15. He said to GQ magazine "It achieved no pharmacological, psychotropic or any other effect on me whatsoever." Jack Straw said that cannabis was two to four times more dangerous than tobacco but was challenged by drug law reform campaigners , as reported in The Guardian. The article " Drugs are Illegal because Drugs are Dangerous" is against the legalisation of cannabis . I got this article from www.drugwatch.org. The title implies that there is no other reason that drugs are illegal and that all drugs are dangerous. Its about the bad effects of cannabis ,the culture around cannabis and about correlation between cannabis and crime The

Skin Cancer

WHAT'S THE PROBLEM? Australians have the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. Two out of every three Australians who live to the age of 75 can expect to develop some type of skin cancer. For many years Australians thought a good suntan was a sign of a healthy body. The reality is that a good suntan is a sign that you are being exposed to too much UV radiation. There are three main types of skin cancers in Australia. The most dangerous of these cancers is melanoma. Early detection of skin cancers is extremely important; it can stop the spread of cancer to other parts of the body. The three main types of skin cancer are: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) - This is the most common, but least dangerous type of skin cancer. BCCs are usually found on the face and neck. BCCs begin to form as small round or flattened lumps which are red, pale or pearly in colour and may have blood vessels (which look like tiny veins) over the surface. If untreated, they will spread and can leave bad scarring if you do not get early treatment. Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) - This skin cancer is less common, but more dangerous than BCC. This cancer can develop on the lips, particularly the lower lip. SCCs are best described as red scaling areas that may bleed and become ulcerated. Very occasionally, SCCs may spread to the lymph nodes. Melanoma - This is the least common, but most dangerous skin

Original Writing Coursework

Original Writing Coursework on Prince Escalus As I was walking through the dark, shadowed streets of Legnago, I noticed something strange about the man standing against the wall. He was dressed in an all black doublet covered in gold embroidery partially hidden by his fur lined cloak. There was something odd yet so familiar about him but I just couldn't get my hand on it. No matter how hard I tried the thought kept on eating away at me. I walked past him and recognized him as Frederick, one of the Partisans, our rival family for the past 10 years. It began with a little argument about who got the last piece of fruit from a vendor in the street. Over the years this developed into a feud with the several meetings that they had between them in the streets. Words were spoken, fists had been blazing with rage, but nothing had been done to stop this. He had a history of a hot-headed temper that no-one would have liked to set off so I carried on my journey home. I was nearly home when I heard a noise behind me. But it was only a strayed cat that had just knocked over the bin. Then I heard a different noise from behind but I ignored it that time. I had a feeling that I was being followed. Soon, I could hear footsteps which were rapidly increasing. In a matter of moments the person was on my heels. I turned around and saw that the mysterious person was Frederick. He had drawn his

No memory. No knowledge. No Life.... Awoken by some Deafening screech rattled by the enthusiasm of death, Yes that's it, death stains these walls. I awake to see a hand. Is it mine? I am lost and confused in a maze of demolished memories, and there is no exit in sight. These appear to be shackles around my wrists; however there are unclasped and I am free, free! As I rise from this chair I feel condemned to search this place. I NEED answers. I transcend from this seat and my feet first touch marble. I instantly recognize that feeling of cold, as a bitter chill sets upon my skin, goose-bumps appear and I am greeted by the happiness to know that I am still fleshly, mortal. There is a file that I glance upon. It intrigues me as the face depicted on the front reminds me of something, someone. I lift the file and a name appears is..... Is this me? Whilst astonished by the sensation of discovery, a flashback occurs, memory! A young man about twenty is standing there and a French flag is raised proudly above his head with a passport and a belt wrapped around his waist like an anaconda, it had engraved "Abel". I open my eyes to a room now filled with even more mystery. Is this me? I need to know so I head toward a light, laminating the door to my left. This chamber that looks to have held me will now free me upon the unsuspected world. I walk free from this chamber and see that

War of the Worlds Review

War of the worlds Think about the word 'war', and you'll probably think about guns, armies, tanks; most likely and death, obviously. However in this book, we're met with a war between man and aliens. This book is split into 2 parts-Book 1 and Book 2. Book 1 is titled 'The Coming of The Martians' while Book 2 is titled 'Earth Under Martians'. This story is set in the early 20th century, London and it begins with the narrator visiting an observatory where he witnesses an explosion on the surface on Mars. That is one of the series of such events that arouses interest in the scientific community. An unspecified time later, what seemed to be a meteor landed on a place near the narrator's home. Due to the fact that his house is near and due to his curiosity, he is among the first to discover that the 'meteor' is actually a space-going artificial cylinder launched from mars. The cylinder opens, releasing the Martians described with huge eyes and a flailing antennae which begin setting up strange machinery in the cylinder's impact crater. At first, a man accidentally slips into the crater and attempts to scramble out; however, a Martian pulls him back and his is not seen again. Upon seeing that the Martians are unable to climb out of the crater pit, a small group of human moves towards the crater and are incinerated by a ray of heat that is not visible to the naked eye. After
