The Christian teachings about the way in which believers should treat people who are less fortunate than themselves are that you should do your utmost to help them in any way possible by doing an assortment of things ranging from the more forward option of giving them money or just giving them a place to sleep for the night.

Peters map (produced by historian and cartographer Dr. Arno Peters) fundamentally shows the way in which the world's wealth is divided in to the northern and southern hemisphere (Rich North and Poor South). It illustrates that the majority of the world's money is in the north and it has been worked out that is where 80% of the world's money is. It wouldn't be so much a problem if the poor south had the same population as the north but in fact it has the same percentage of the north's wealth which proves how unbalanced these two hemispheres are.

Due to the large difference in wealth between the rich north and the poor south the north tends to benefit very highly from this and sells necessities at very high prices because the south can't afford to make thing's such as medicine themselves. The north in the past have, and continue to do things such as when a country from the poor south needs hospital a country from the rich north will agree to pay for the construction itself, but in return there would be large interest rates and eventually in the case that the country can't continue paying, it will be removed leaving former employees of the hospital unemployed and another small part of the countries economy gone.

Poverty is where a person or community is deprived of a standard well being in life. Meaning that there is a lack of provisions such as: water, food, housing, clothing, education and health care etc. things that countries from the rich north don't think twice about. But despite the fact that the rich north has a vast wealth compared the poor south there is still poverty in parts of the rich north.
