‘There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be open handed toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in the land’ in this god is saying lets not be selfish and that we should make every effort to help our neighbour and our neighbour is basically anyone who needs our help.
‘if anyone has material possessions and feels his brother is in need but has no pity for him how can the love of god be in him?’ this means that poverty will never go away so lets try and put ourselves in there shoes that way we will know what they are going through and maybe realize how easy wee have it, then maybe we will feel inclined to help them.
In the bible we are told to treat others as we would like to be treat ourselves, this is the golden rule and it is a reflection of agape love.
‘faith without action is dead’ this means that it is no good saying you have a faith if you do not do anything with it!
‘if one of your fellow countrymen becomes poor and is unable to support himself among you ,help him as you would an alien or a temporary resident , so that he can continue to live among you…you must not lend him money at interest or food at a profit’ this is showing respect for people in your community no matter who they are or were they are from this should be the lifer a Christian believer should follow as this is a quote from god himself advising people to follow in his footsteps and be considerate to all types of people not considering there creed colour or ethnic background.
The world is split by something informally known as the north south divide separating richer countries to the north and the poorer to the south excluding Australia and new-Zealand this is what I earlier mentioned about the wealth of the world as it is a big split and god teaches us to be a bigger person and treat everyone as an equal and as some of the quotes I have mentioned say to help them as much as we possibly can this is a part of a Christian believers life as they should stick to this as a day to day ritual.
‘love the lord your god with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and all your strength … love your neighbour as yourself’ this is teaching Christians to love god more than anyone else but always be yourself to your neighbour as you will be treated the same and no one will think more or less of you that way.
‘and he has given the command whoever loves god must also love his brother’ this is saying that god will not accept you as a follower if you do not love your brother as how can you love god as you do not love your brother in other words god is telling you to get your priorities right.
‘looking at his disciples he said blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of god blessed are you who hunger now for you will be satisfied blessed are you who keep no as you will laugh’
