Technology has advanced since the time of Jesus and so life is better that it ever was. More money, possessions, and a high status keep many people back from being true disciples of God. Today we are judged on how we look and what we have. But we are mistaken. Jesus said to the rich young man, "you need only one thing. Go and sell all you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven, then come and follow me."

The Resurrection - What evidence is there in Luke’s Gospel to bring a Christian to believe that Jesus rose from the dead?
Suddenly two men in shining white appeared next to them. They said: "Why do you look for the living amongst the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you While he was still in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, Tariq Husseini be crucified, and on the third day be raised again." (Luke 24:5-7). Next the women ran back to the eleven disciples, to bring them the news.

‘It is not possible to be a true disciple of Jesus in the modern world’. Do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer, showing that you have considered more than one point of view.
People today do not take their religion and there are falling numbers in people attending Church. The world today is full of violence; there is war in the Middle East and famine in Africa and Ethiopia. People make excuses and say that they are too busy to help others. This clearly shows what Jesus demanded, disciples did not do, "If any-one wishes to follow me he must deny himself.", Mark 8:33-34. What Jesus meant about carrying your cross, people have watered down and not taken it as seriously or literally as he had meant.

In this story the widow had to give up all her money and put it in the poor box. This was an example of a true disciple. An example of an untrue disciple is the story of the rich young man. In this story Jesus asked the young man to give up everything but he could not. The rich young man was not a true disciple because he refused to give up all he possessed to follow Jesus unlike 'The widow's mite'. The disciples made a lot of sacrifices especially Levi the tax collector. He gave up his wealthy job to become a disciple.

Becoming Jesus' follower asked the Twelve to understand that the messiah that would come to save the Jews would be a 'suffering servant' who would come not to free them from the Romans but to free them from their sins. Jesus also taught the Twelve to accept a completely new concept of the afterlife. The Twelve would have previously learnt that the afterlife, Sheol, was a place where you went after you died and you just 'existed.' The Jews did not believe in resurrection.

As Jesus walked along the shore Jesus saw the two brothers Simon and Andrew catching fish with a net, Jesus said to them, "Come with me, and I will teach you to catch people." At once they left their net and went with him, Jesus walked a little further and saw two other brothers, James and John, sons of Zebedee. There were in their boat getting their nets ready. As soon as Jesus saw them, he called them; they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and went with Jesus.

Belief in the resurrection of Jesus has more to do with wishful thinking than with the historical facts
However others may disagree With me and say it was impossible that the apostles could have persisted in affirming the truths they Had narrated that Jesus Christ Actually rose from the dead it would be unlikely that they would be Prepared

Mary is very important to the Catholic faith, for she is the all-loving mother of Christ. Many Catholic’s look up to her and pray to the holy virgin for guidance.
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob forever. And of his kingdom there shall be no end." Of course Mary was very confused because she was a virgin. To calm her he told her that her virginity would remain "The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee.

They expected Jesus to be like their last king David who was a great warrior. So when Jesus came and told the world he was the "Son of Man" people were surprised as he didn't look like a warrior. In fact Jesus was a preacher and a healer who would help the world in another way. Jesus told stories with meanings (parables) and tried to help people understand what God wanted them to do. To understand how Jesus differed from Jewish expectations you have to know about him. He was born in a stable, the first sign that he would not be a warrior king, and grew up as a carpenter, under the guidance of his stepfather Joseph.
