What can the study of Marks gospel tell Christians of many denominations about the meaning of the Sabbath

Sabbath (Hebrew, Shabbat, derived from the verb shavat,” to rest, cease”), a holy day of rest observed by the Jews and some Christian denominations on Saturday, the seventh day of the week, and by most Christians on Sunday. The origin of the Sabbath is uncertain, but it is apparently connected with the Babylonian shapattu, the 15th day of the month, on which the full moon occurs, and the Babylonian cycle of “evil days” every seventh day.

The study of Marks Gospel tells us many things about the Sabbath. It tells us that we should obey, rest, heal, socialise, and worship on the Sabbath. But not all denominations of Christianity celebrate these is the same way.

One of the beliefs is that we should obey. This is shown in Marks Gospel when he tells the story of when; Jesus and the disciples were in a corn field and they were picking corn. Here the Pharisees said to Jesus, “Look it is against our law for your disciples to do that on the Sabbath!” then Jesus replied, “The Sabbath was made for the good of human beings; they were not made for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is even lord on the Sabbath.” This shows that people should obey God even on the Sabbath (Mk 2:23-27). This is also shown when Jesus ordered an evil spirit to come out of some one and the evil spirit said “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Are you here to destroy us? I know who you are-you are Gods Holy messenger.” (Mk 1:21-27). This shows that even evil knows who he is and obeys him.

This is practiced today by the Roman Catholics and Orthodox when they obey the Gospel and goes the church every Sunday or Saturday so this shows how they obey the belief on the Sabbath. This is also put in to practice when the Catholics obey God by having the Eucharist on the Sabbath, they take one piece of bread and break it in to four, and this is then given out to the congregation and so id the rest of the bread and wine. The Methodist does this as well. They bless the bread and wine by saying “This ...
