Chemical and Physical Properties of Backing Soda and Chalk
Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to identify the changes that occur when white chalk and baking soda are combined with water and hydrochloric acid and then heated until evaporation.
Theory Matter is all over our world and universe either in the form of an element, chemical compound, or a mixture. Each of these forms of matter has a certain property. These properties are described as either physical or chemical. Matter can also go through a series of changes. The two types are physical and chemical. Chemical changes are changes that change the chemical make up, a change in identity. Physical changes are ones that do not change the chemical make-up.
