The second cause of the occurrence of global warming is that the sea levels are rising. Sea levels are rising because of the temperature of the world oceans are rising. The water that is running like a herd of wildebeests in the oceans is expanding because of the sea heat. If sea levels rise too much it will flood in coastal areas like thoughts flooding into people’s minds. Sea levels also rising because ice caps are melting. Sources tell us that there has been a 40% drop in the amount of Arctic ice since the 1970s. If ice caps continued to melt at this rate by the summer of 2070 the arctic will be ice free. This will affect the wildlife that lives there, like polar bears; they are already suffering from sea ice loss. Scientists for the first time have recognized multiple deaths of polar bears off Alaska; they infer that polar bears might have drowned after swimming long distances in the ocean, in the middle of the melting of the arctic ice. So it is predicted that expanded sea water combined with the extra water released from melting glaciers and the ice caps will cause 15-95cm rise in sea levels by 2100. On top of that already 10-25cm has already been experienced. If we continue to let out these CO2 emissions they will damage the environment severely.
One way of tackling global warming is to recycle. Recycling is one of the best ways for you to have a positive impact on the world in which we live in. Did you know that one recycled tin can would save enough energy to power a television for three hours or up to 60% of the rubbish that ends up in the dustbin could be recycled? No… not many people are aware that they are damaging the atmosphere by not recycling. The government is even helping us prevent global warming by providing us with orange bags and recycling banks. If we don’t recycle global warming will get worse. Earth will not look like earth but like the great big garbage dump. AND… REMEMBER, NO RECYCLING, NO EARTH. So instead: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
The future of global warming is bright and clear but, the future of the earth’s environment is dark and ambiguous. If Global warming continues to destroy, devastate and damage the earth; it will merely be a planet that was affected badly by a planet virus called global warming. Can you imagine earth in the 2050s? The UK could have climate more like what we are currently expecting to see in parts of southern Europe. Global warming won’t threaten food security but in some regions they will suffer from a large scale of food and water shortage. More than a million species will face extinction from disappearing habitat, changing ecosystems, and acidifying oceans. The WWF (World Wildlife Fund) are implying that Earth's population will be forced to colonise two planets within 50 years if natural resources continue to be exploited at the current rate otherwise the earth will expire, according to their report on Global Warming.
To conclude, Global warming however is not inevitable, so we can all work together and cooperate to help and combat global warming so we can change it or even to put a stop to it. But, our laziness is not a good enough reason to justify it. So, we need to remember to recycle; we can walk or cycle to a near distance place than driving. Also, we should replace normal house bulbs with energy efficient bulbs to protect the environment and we should stop leaving our appliances on standby instead we should just turn them off. You can also sign a petition by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) to take action against global warming. So remember if we all work together, we can prevent global warming and the green house effect. REMEMBER TO GO GREEN THIS WINTER. It has been nice taking to you; you have been a great audience.
