Investigating the resistance of a wire

In this investigation I am going to find out how different lengths of wire change how easily current flows through wire.

What things can I change?

The things I can change while doing this experiment are the following:

* The length of the wire that I am going to use

* The thickness of the wire I am going to use

* The material the wire is made out of

* The temperature of the wire

What I am going to change

While I am doing this experiment the only thing that I am going to change is the length of the wire that I am going to use.

What will I measure?

While doing the experiment I am going to measure, the current each piece of wire will let through. I am also going to measure the voltage across the piece of wire each time.

What might happen in my results

I think that when I do this experiment I will find that, the longer the piece of wire is, the higher the resistance will be.

Why might this happen?

I think that the longer the piece of wire, the more resistance will be let out because there will be more space for the electrons to have to travel through.

Apparatus

The apparatus I will use while completing this experiment are:

* 1 metre ruler

* Sellotape

* Connecting wires

* A Voltmeter ...
