Investigation of the response of a microphone/loudspeaker over a range of frequencies
Aim & Hypothesis
To become proficient with using a signal generator and a Cathode Ray Oscilloscope (CRO.) Also, to investigate how the amplitude of a signal from a microphone varies as the frequency of a fixed amplitude signal applied to the loudspeaker varies, (between 100Hz and 1000Hz.)
Safety
RISK ASSESSMENT – LEVEL ONE
This experiment does not carry many hazards. Bags and coats will be moved out of the way to ensure that no one will trip over them. The only other potential danger is as a result of using mains operated equipment. I will not be using the equipment near any water, taps etc. I will do a visual check on the equipment before use (not fraying or lose wires, etc.)
Variables
Independent Variable: Frequency (Hz)

Quality of writing
Punctuation, grammar and spelling are all done to a good standard. The format and tone of this piece are good. The piece flows well and is easy to read.
Level of analysis
The aim is explained well, but the candidate doesn't actually make any statement that can be classed as an hypothesis in this section. An hypothesis is a statement that says what the candidate think will happen in the experiment. The candidate sets out the experiment well by testing to make sure there is nothing that could affect the experiment resulting in equipment error. They also adjusted the settings to make the results more reliable. The analysis and results are done well. Their evaluation should be merged with the modifications section as they are really the same thing. Their conclusion is done adequately.
Response to question
The focus of the experiment is done well. The candidate achieves what they set out to do, and although there are minor things wrong in places, the experiment is conducted and recorded very well.
