Aim : To see whether liquid in a can stays warmer for longer if it has twice the amount of the same insulation.

Factors of the heat of a can :

  1. The material of the can.
  2. The amount of liquid used.
  3. The temperature of the liquid.
  4. The surface the can is on.
  5. The temperature of the outside air.
  6. If the can has a lid on it.

Apparatus :

For this experiment I will use 2 cans (wrapped in material), Lap top, electronic thermometer,  kettle and stop-watch.

Method :

I am going to add 5cm2 hot water into two different cans, which have already been wrapped in insulating material. I will then put an electronic thermometer in the water and measure which can cools down quicker.

Prediction :
