Work Experience to Crook Log Primary School

On the week starting on the 5th of July, I went on Work Experience to Crook Log Primary School. This school is situated in the centre of Bexleyheath where a lot of people can easily reach. I decided to do my week of Work Experience at Crook Log Primary School because for some time now I have been thinking about following a teaching career. At Crook Log School I worked with Mrs Coxs and a class of children which go by the name of Class 1/2. During the week I worked individually and in small groups with pupils from class 1/2. I helped the children to solve mathematical problems usually concerning money and also with their spelling. I helped them with their spelling by sounding out the letter sounds within the word. I helped Mrs Coxs and a variety of different teachers with marking, filing the children's work, writing up their reports onto a computer and planning lessons. Once a day I was lucky enough to have some pupils from class 1/2 read to me, I had to make comments on how well I thought they read and any improvements I thought needed to be dealt with. From attending a week of Work Experience at Crook Log School I have learnt a variety of new skills. I have learnt how to use a photocopier and a laminator, I have learnt to be more independent and reliable, I have learnt to communicate better, I have learnt to listen and follow instructions better, I have learnt to be aware

citizenship coursework A - work experience

Coursework A - work experience During year ten I had two weeks of work experience from the 12th to 23rd of March 2007. Work experience wasn't just compulsory for pupils within my school, but a nationwide curricular activity. My head of year Miss Joseph organised the work experience with a company called Trident, who helped organise the placements and checked the placement for health and safety. For those not organising their own work experience, you had apply for jobs through tridents website. You had to select six difference jobs, and order them in preference and then Trident would try to organise the placement you placed first. However Trident were unable to succeed in getting everyone their first choice in placement, as many other schools within Waltham forest were doing work experience during the same period. I however arranged my own placement, at my mothers' primary school. My mother, several members of staff and I and to fill out a couple of forms which were then sent to Trident, who would check the placement to see if it was safe for me to work there. I chose to work in a school as I enjoy working with others and helping children to learn. I have often considered becoming a teacher, so I felt that working in a school would help me decide whether that was the career path I should be going down. A couple of weeks before my work experience was due to start, I had an

For my work experience I went to Savers in Bulwell.

Work Experience Report For my work experience I went to Savers in Bulwell. The work that is done there is facing up mopping the floor and sweeping the floor about half an hour before the shop closes. Also on the delivery days, which are Tuesday and Thursday, I had to stock shelves, which took all day because I had to undo boxes and packaging then put the things on the shelves. Then I had to break down all the boxes that I had undone. Also tills are used there to scan the products. The differences between a day at school and a day a work are that at school it is more laid back and you are sitting most of the time. Also school is a sorter day. So this means that you are not so tiered when you come home from school than from when you come home from a hard day at work. At work there is never a time when there is nothing for you to be getting on with. Also when you are at work you are not seeing the same faces everyday, like you do at school and you also meet new people everyday at work. I was treated more like an adult on my work experience to how I am treated at school. There were no jobs that only males could do and that only women could do. Throughout the week I was expected to turn up on time every day. Also I was expected to wear the company top what they supplied for me. I was also expected to act like an adult. I was expected to be back on time after my two

Trident * WHERE I WENT Firstly I was going to the council at Sassy to join the civil engineers But due to lack of staff and paperwork problems I went to the council in the highways maintenance office. * WHY I DIDN'T GET MY DESIRED PLACEMENT * WHAT THE OFFICE WAS LIKE The office was a city of prefab huts my first impressions of the office on the first day was disheartening until I got inside the office is well designed in the councils colours a rich scarlet and white it was a vast difference to the ugly outside but its what's on the inside that counts!!! The office was decorated with computers and plotting devices maps and all different instruments used in the everyday life of the council. * DESCRIBE THE PEOPLE I WORKED WITH * HOW THEY MADE ME FEEL The other members of staff really made me feel welcome and part of the team they got me involved in projects that are real and not just made up to pass the time. The involved me in conversations asked me questions answered mine. Especially in the first week they supported me and if I was stuck with something the didn't hesitate to help they were brilliant and as they were giving up there own time I found this really pleasing as most of the time they didn't need to help they just did. I felt comfortable being in the office with them as they treat me as a fellow employee and not a student. * DESCRIBE THE TYPE OF WORK I DID

Work experience at a solicitor's office based in Southall.

Work Experience As part of my year 10 GCSE course, I decided to take part in a two-week work experience at firm of my choice, which was to be at a solicitor's office based in Southall. This essay will contain detail about my experience as a member in this law firm. In the week following up to my work experience, the school was still looking for a suitable placement for me. Up until the last moment I still had no idea of where I would be placed which left me quite anxious and intrigued to know. Eventually I was given a placement at a doctor's surgery, this surprise was only the beginning of what was to come later on. How I moved from a doctor's surgery to a solicitor's office, was something, which was not expecting. Once I had my work experience settled, I had phoned the solicitors up to ask for an interview had gone quite smoothly. The manager in charge had asked me some personal details and to why I had chosen the solicitors. The time had come for my first day. I felt quite nervous and excited but because I had the interview I was quite confidence. I had woken up half n hour early to dress myself and to make sure I looked smart and well presented. While I was having breakfast my mother knew I was nervous from the way I was eating my 'corn flakes' she had told me not to worry but just to speak in a polite manner. My journey consisted of walking. I had left the house at

Evaluation of participation and responsible action during Work Experience.

5th July 2004 Sophie Hyde 0w CITIZENSHIP GCSE COURSEWORK A Evaluation of participation and responsible action during Work Experience. From 21st June to 2nd July 2004, I took part in a Work experience placement. I didn't know what I would like to be when I left school, so therefore I decided to go somewhere that has a variety. I first looked on the NYBEP website, but there was nothing I wanted to do, so, I decided to refer back to when I worked at Malton Show with the Gazette and Herald. After deciding to go the paper I wrote a letter to the employer, Mr McMillan, asking him to accept me. I then sent him my WE4 form so he could fill it in. I found out what was required by telephoning Mr McMillan, the editor, and asking him a series of questions. I did work experience because I wanted to find out about Journalism and what it involves, and also because I wanted to improve my confidence. Unfortunately I came across a problem because another student had already booked for the second week so therefore my supervisor proposed that I go to office in York for the first week, and the Malton office for the second week. If I was to prepare my work experience again I would go for an interview, as I didn't have one on this work experience. On the first Monday, naturally I was nervous; I was greeted by Pam Johnson. I was then taken to meet Mr McMillan and then guided to where I was

Work Experience in the BMW plant in Oxford.

Work Experience K. Lankford Work experience is a program that operates during the winter term of year 11 when students are placed inside of an organisation, shadowing a person in a role that interests them, and possibly that reflects their career path. It is usually organised in the summer term of year 10, but many pupils prefer to leave it until a later date. This often makes it a lot harder to find a placement as several schools also run a work experience week across the same date. I began by brainstorming the sort of places that I would enjoy working at, and I decided that somewhere in the IT field, or quality control, as I have performed these tasks before, and I enjoyed them. I then started to telephone for a placement. Many of the answers that I received were no, and several were yes. I then had to decide to where I would like to go. During one evening, my friend had a conversation with me describing how I could get a placement at BMW. I applied the next day and I was then rushed into an interview the next day. At first I was quite relaxed about the interview as I have been to several for a part-time job, however, during the morning of the interview I was slightly nervous as I had no idea of what to expect. I walked into the office, and I was greeted by a friendly face - the interview was undertaken by my friend. I then relaxed and answers began to flow into my head.

My work experience For my work experience I went to work in a music shop called Broadway music, which sells everything from reeds to guitar strings. They mainly specialise in guitars. This shop was located in Rayners Park which is an area close to my school and an area which I know pretty well and turned out to be very convenient for me! The shop was run by a couple called Karen and Collin I new them quite well because I go into the shop regularly and plus I know there son because we play in the Merton music foundation which is a well established music centre for youths who live or go to school in the borough of Merton. These two people were to be my boss for the next week, I was quite glad about that fact because I knew them and I had a sense of security about me plus I new they where nice friendly people. There were about five people working there all there running the shop and there was two of us on work experience both with the same name funnily enough. On the first day I arrived at around 9:50 and I had to wait for the other boy to arrive. When I stepped in I felt welcome but also a little shy and nervous. I stood in front of the counter for about 5 minutes just talking to Karen about how I was getting on with my music, and then the other boy arrived. Karen told us were to put our coats and our stuff and we started our first job. Our first job was to look through the

Describe some of the highs and lows of the week - Aim to bring to life each situation by describing the atmosphere, the event and your reactions - Avoid writing a simple chronological account.

Year 10 GCSE-Original writing linked to Work Experience 2. Describe some of the highs and lows of the week. Aim to bring to life each situation by describing the atmosphere, the event and your reactions. Avoid writing a simple chronological account. I finally had the chance to see what life is like out of school, and what life will be like in the future. Sotheby's Billingshurst and to Sotheby's Olympia in London was where I went for my one week work experience. It was a truly enjoyable experience and an excellent opportunity to see how the business operates, and also an opportunity for me to learn. The best part of the week was taking part in a live auction. The least exciting task was helping the gallery staff, as this only involved patrolling the gallery. The auction was the highlight of the week. It was a two day sale selling mostly garden statuary, but there were also some very interesting Jurassic fossils. The fossils I became most fascinated with were six fossilised dinosaur eggs, which managed to gain £2,400. I expected them to sell for more. During the auction I did the currency conversion. This is where I had to listen to the auctioneer say every price for each lot, for example; £2,000, £2,220, £2,500, £2,800, etc. I would have to type these numbers into the computer and then they would be converted. The prices for each currency and the image of the lot

My work experience was at Carlin Motorsport a F3 racing car team

Citizenship Work experience comes from topic 1 in the citizenship syllabus. This part of the syllabus covers school, work and the community. I chose work experience as it covers the points necessary for the syllabus. The parts of the syllabus were covered as we firstly planned the experience at school, and this would then lead us to work in the community. During Year 10 in the autumn term (2004) our Monday tutorial sessions were used to get us prepared for our work experience. In one of the lesson we had a visit from Mrs Penning of Connexions who told us what we'd get from our work experience. This was important because we looked at the different jobs on offer, what options would suit us and what employers look for in us. We also had talk in several assemblies about how it was important to be organised for our work experience. Which encouraged me to make enquires about my placement. We also had a database available to us with which we could search for suitable jobs. This was important for those who were looking for ideas about the kind of placement that they wanted. In the spring term we had mock interviews for our placement when an interviewer came into school and interviewed us. This was a useful experience as we will have to take part in interviews when applying for the job. Citizenship - Work experience Dates November 25 Job centre placement information in the
