A chapter form my autobiography dealing with the two weeks of my work experience.

A chapter form my autobiography dealing with the two weeks of my work experience Work experience is important because it gives you insight into life of the 'outside' world. It gives the opportunity of working in a line that can be chosen as a career for future, giving the idea of the qualifications and steps needed to chase for the career you want to adopt. The pleasant news of doing a work experience in year eleven was revealed to me in early spring in 2003. It didn't really come as a shock to me because my brother had also done a work experience in year eleven and seemed to have enjoyed it and 'had a time of his life'. In that sense I was eager about work experience and couldn't wait to plan it. Many people I knew panicked when they heard about doing a work experience. They didn't have a clue what they wanted to do in future. I, on the other hand, had no problem with that. I had decided when I was seven that I wanted to be a doctor who treats children. It was only recently I found out that this type of a doctor is called a paediatrician. My next step was to hunt some suitable place which was appropriate for the career line I had chosen. I started off by phoning in hospitals. But I couldn't get hold of the right person so I tried a different route by writing letters but a huge disappointment came over me when I didn't hear anything from the hospitals. I went to see the

Work Experience talk to year 10.

Sian Coursework 9-2-06 Work Experience talk to year 10. Hello, I'm here today to talk to you all about work experience. I can see a few anxious faces when I mention the words work experience, but I hope that my talk today will change that. Incase some of you are not exactly sure what work experience is, it's a placement that you personally choose yourself, and than you will go there for a period of two weeks. I now it might seem a long time, two weeks but when you're there time just flays, and it'll be worth it. And if you're lucky you might decide what you would like to do in the future from this experience, you never know!! Getting a placement is quite straight-forward you know. Well it does depend on were you're thinking of going. You can either phone them, e-mail them or send them a letter. What I did was phone them because I believe this was the most affective way and this way you are also able to find out more necessary information. All I had to do after I phoned was go and visit my placement to get to know everyone and to get to know the building. The day before I started on my work experience I was very anxious, but at the same time I was looking forward. So don't worry if you have similar feelings before you start your work experience because they're just normal. The only advise I can give you is that you have

Write a Report on Work Experience for Next Year's Year 10.

Write a Report on Work Experience for Next Year's Year 10 Year 10 students are set out to go on a 2-week work experience. The idea of work experience is that it is to show students/teenagers how work really is. During the course of the 2 weeks, the students should be able to build up new skills and develop ones they already have. The sort of work experience I wanted to do was something to with computers, or some other type of electronic products. I wanted to do something like this mainly out of interest. I wanted to do computer work because I do GNVQ ICT; due to this I thought working with computers would develop my skills even further. I also hoped that with this work experience I would be able to get better communication skills and with this, meet new people. I hoped that if I got the job, I would find out how the computer or electronic industry works and I would find out whether or not I like that sort job. I would have also liked to find out what types of skills, qualifications and responsibilities you need for that type of job. I wanted to find out all these things because I am interested in that as a further career, although I do have some other alternatives. The placement that I got was nothing like the one I wanted. This is because project trident could not find me a placement. So I had to get a self-placement. The only place that was not all booked up, or not

Today we started our work experience at the world's most luxurious hotel.

Day 1 Today we started our work experience at the world's most luxurious hotel. We started at 8 am in the training room on the ground floor. There we met Shereen Adwaney our supervisor. She told us the hotel hallmarks and handed us out our trainee badges. We were then paired up with someone. I was working with Shane. We were told three very important things before we were allowed to work: . Greet the guest before the guest greets you 2. Never say no to a guest 3. Treat colleagues the same way you would like to be treated Shane and I went to meet Alok for our Rooms division tour. He showed us a one-bedroom suite and showed us around the hotel. After our 1-hour tour with Alok we went to purchasing and receiving. Here we met Sidath who told us about LPOs (Local Purchasing Orders), checking procedures and rejected products. We then had a tea break for 30 minutes, which we spent at the staff canteen. When our tea break was over, Shane and I went to our next work place, the florists. Here we made 2 flower arrangements each and learnt how to cut stems properly. When we finished our hour at the florists we went to the laundry and tailoring department. Here we met Moses who taught about the 3 different departments: . Laundry 2. Tailoring 3. Dry-cleaning We were then shown how to dry clean the kimono robes for the guests. After Moses showed us it was our turn. We had to slide

Citizenship studies courework

Citizenship Coursework For my citizenship coursework I have decided in a group to do a school based activity and teach Mr kreachers year seven, set four mathematics class. The reason I have chosen this activity is because it relates really well to this citizenship studies course as it will enable me to make a positive contribution to fellow students at my school by helping them learn, it will also help me to improve my citizenship skills because I will be able to play an effective role in the activity and it will also help me to understand how other people learn. The following people will be taking part in this activity with me: sam, jessica and taylor. Our main aim whilst carrying out this activity is to teach the students who most probably do find the subject (maths) quite challenging and help them learn, by doing this we aim to motivate the students and try to teach them something that they find difficult- possibly in a fun way, this again links to citizenship because it shows that we care about other members of our community (school) because we will be spending our time helping the younger students with something that is an incredibly important part of their education. We will also like to be role models for the younger students. Before we actually do the activity it is important to now what topic the students find the most difficult and it is my job to find out this

Work Experience Diary.

Work Experience Diary When I first heard about work experience, the first thing that came to my head was the chance of missing two weeks of school. However, I learnt that there was more to it then that. Whilst everybody in my year had got their placements a couple of weeks before the experience had started. I had not received mine yet. Not until the week before work experience I had got my placement. While opening the letter, I felt both anxious and excited but when I found out the place that I was working I was really disappointed. I had discovered that I was working in the busiest shop in Brent. This shop was Primark in Harrow. When I went to Primark for the interview a couple of days before I had to work there. I wore a suit to look professional which could say that I could do any task they wanted me to do. In addition, I saw a schoolmate of mine, who was also working there, which made me a bit relaxed. When I stepped in to my future boss's office he was kind and considerate. His name was Mr Tony Tudor and he was the General Manager of the store. In the interview he talked about the shop and he said that even though it's not the most ideal place to work, it's better than nothing. The meeting only lasted for a couple of minutes and luckily he accepted me to work in his retail store. The day was 12 May 2003, it was 8am in the morning, and I started work at 10am. It was a

English Speech. Work Experience

English Speech Good morning boys and girls, you are lucky enough to be witnessing my presentation, free of charge (although tips will be accepted at the end of the performance). I am going to talk about my work experience, all the action - the good, the bad, and the downright ugly, but enough about the finance man, let's move on. On my work experience, I went to Fairgame Publishing Ltd. - a company which publishes magazines, based on women's football, it is the biggest selling women's football magazine in England, even though I would bet that none of you in this room have heard about it. I only sells a few thousand every issue (once every two months) but, they were overjoyed when they found that in approximately three years time, they would finally break into profit. Now, I can see by your faces that you are all waiting in eager anticipation as to find out how I got this placement. Well, due to my connections, I know the editor of this magazine, she plays for the same football team with me, so the organisation was pretty efficient - I politely asked her - by shouting across the football pitch one training session - if I could do work experience with her - and she politely responded - by shouting back. At this stage I was quite excited, this was really because I had completed and handed in something before anyone else in my class, which must have been a first. I was told

Work Experience at the Aylesbury County Court

Work Experience at the Aylesbury County Court I sat in the blistering heat, sealing envelope after envelope of letters. I just wanted the day to be over, my back was killing me after all the case filing I had to do and now I was putting the little energy I had left into doing tedious mailing routines. They were working me so hard, I was so glad it was my last day... 'Good Luck', shouted my mum as I slammed the car door and stepped out into the street. I felt strange. Apprehensive. Excited. Scared. All these emotions and feelings were running through my mind, but I made my way to the County Court on that dreary January morning with the determination to make this a worthwhile experience for myself. Locked. I stood outside the office doors inside the building for what seemed like an eternity. Waiting......just waiting. I knew Mum shouldn't have dropped me so early, but I desperately wanted to make a good impression by being punctual. Plus I thought that there would be at least one person early in the office on a Monday morning. I was wrong. Whilst reading a leaflet on how to claim bankruptcy, I heard footsteps approaching. My heart raced and I stood, ready to introduce myself. But each time, the footsteps trod in a different direction and the sound died away and I was left disappointed but also feeling even more apprehensive than before. I started pacing up and down the unlit

During my time in Young Enterprise

During our time in Young Enterprise, we were able to broaden our knowledge and skills towards helping our company become more successful. Young Enterprise is helping many students become more aware of the business world this has helped us become attentive into producing and manufacturing a product that will help reform this world. Due to the evolution of business and our economical crisis, we were not able to fund for a suitable product that can be successful amid customers, many of the products that were analysed was over the price range for our target audience. This then lead for a further team discussion towards deciding upon a suitable product, we realised that our product ideas matched different time frames of the year, for example on idea was t-shirts, these are normally sold quicker during the summer, because of this we decided to have a range of products to sell through out the year. Leadership in a business is essential if the team members are to keep on task, motivated and organised. Our team was able to select an excellent representative/leader who would take upon the job of Managing Director. This led our team to have democratic election towards choosing a reliable managing director. The vote came to a unanimous decision where Bahram Ehsas was elected as the Managing Director of Elite.
