My Pharmacy Work Experience

Section Five- Extension Activity During the five days I was there, I observed a lot of teamwork, and in my opinion that’s what is keeping the organisation going so successfully. For example, when new stock is delivered to the pharmacy, one person would open the many boxes, another would put the medication into piles according to name and strength and another would place these piles of medication on the shelves. It was a joy to watch for the first time, because I genuinely thought it would be impossible because of the great number of large cardboard boxes there were, but it was all finished in about half an hour. For each delivery that took place after this, I took part in this team, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. In addition, the main purpose of the organisation is to supply medication to patients, and I’ve seen that the pharmacy receives a lot of prescriptions with many items on it. On the Wednesday, I remember we had to deal with 100 prescriptions. Here teamwork is absolutely essential and I played a major role in collecting medication off the shelves according to what each prescription required. If I was struggling to find a certain medication, I would ask my colleagues and they would help me out, therefore making the process much quicker. It is important that you don’t make mistakes when collecting medicine, because if you give the wrong medication to a patient, then

I was so tired I couldn't even be bothered to get up in the morning. So many people standing outside

Bait I was so tired I couldn't even be bothered to get up in the morning. So many people standing outside, waiting for me to open up. I knew it was going to be another long day. So much rush so many people to serve and to top it off, I was asked if I could mind a child even though you could clearly see how busy and crowded it was. I was quite annoyed but I could tell the man was quite desperate so I kind of made a deal with him that if he wanted his son to stay and wait for him he would have to buy something. This was quite hard for the man to do; I could tell that they were quite poor by the way he was dressed, it looked as if he had tried to come in his best clothes but they still looked a bit old and worn out as if he had worn them on one too many occasions, where he tried to look his best. Looking down I could see that his shoes were also a bit tattered and battered the heel of the shoe was a bit messed up. I thought he was going for a job interview. In the end he bought a plain cookie for his little five year old son and sat him down in the corner. The look in the little lad's eye made me feel for him, I could just tell he was feeling down and could do with a bit of cheering up. The little lad sat their like a good little boy. He was sat there for quite a while. He kept on looking over the road, I was getting a bit worried the poor little kid sitting on his own,

The First Time I've Ever Worked

The First Time I've Ever Worked It really hit me about half way through December, I suddenly realised I still didn't have anywhere to go. I had already applied to the European Union in Strasbourg as a translator, but they could only have people over eighteen. I was shocked to find out they were not going to make an exception for someone as talented and clever as me. So I really had to find somewhere quick! I thought about going to the vets but I am tragically disabled with asthma. I also thought about going to work at the Road Research Laboratory, but I decided I wanted to work somewhere in France, so that I could get my exceptionally good French even better. I asked my parents if I could go to the school near Saubion on the Spanish border, where I had been for the last half of my six month exchange. But they were not prepared to drive that far (2000 miles trip) just for a week. That left the other school in Orléans where I stayed for the first half of my six month exchange. The next day I asked Mr. Burnett if that would be possible. He said that I would have to ring up and ask. That night I telephoned the school. It was the first time I had spoken French to a French person in over six months, so you can imagine I was a little rusty. When they answered I was greeted by a high pitched voice on the other end. I told them who I was and what I wanted to do. The woman on the

Work experience…?

Lauren Joselyn English Coursework July 2002 Work experience...? On paper, my work experience placement sounded great. I would be sitting in on interviews, answering telephones and various other things that will keep me not only occupied but also interested for a whole week. Nevertheless, as the rain pounded on the car windscreen, a grave feeling bubbled in the darkest pit of my stomach. "What ifs?" dominated my thoughts. "What if they don't like me? What if all I do is make coffee? What if I wasn't as good as expectations?" I even worried about what to wear. Mum bravely marched around Watford shopping centre with me the previous Saturday, but the trip was pretty much in vain. Claire and I took a deep breath and stepped out of my mums' car. Claire, a friend from school, was working in Marks and Spencers, which was opposite my work experience placement at Office Angels. I felt as though I was lucky, I could barely stand five minutes in Marks and Sparks, let alone a week. I said good-bye to Claire and arranged to meet her for lunch at a nearby café. The narrow staircase up to the office felt almost like the green mile. I climbed all the way to the top, but I saw no signs for Office Angels. I walked into the nearest office and asked were it was. Clumsily I had walked straight passed the desired door on the first floor. I walked in shaking slightly. Oblivious of where to go,

Discuss the importance of children making choices in their play.

Unit 8 A* - Discuss the importance of children making choices in their play. Issues that could be considered might be that the children are young and can’t make up their mind enough, even though it’s good to let children make choices the adults are to support the child helping and reassuring the child. Some children are more confident playing in a set activity; any child who is not as confident has to be helped and giving motivation to help their development. “Children like to feel the same as others; living with a medical condition may make a child feel different” Tassoni p, (2007) childcare and education 3rd edition page 60. When giving children the opportunities to make choices you make them feel in control and help to build up their self-esteem, children need to make choices to develop their understanding of the world and know how to handle their self, not encouraging them to make choices might lead them to misbehave or rebel. Choices enhance their imagination; play can consist of amusing or imaginative activity for independent play or with others. The rites of play are evident throughout nature; it helps in their social development. In a classroom it’s important for the children to choose what activities they would like to do, according to Piaget’s constructivist principles if they can make their own decision they will be self-motivated

Autobiography - original writing.

Huw Liddell 26/05/03 Autobiography I had five months to sort out my work experience placement and thought that I had more than enough time in which to do so. Before long, however, I was called to Mr Williams's office, the man in charge of finalising the work experience. I had just found out that I had overnight to get a placement somewhere, otherwise I'll be stuck in school with year 9 for the week. My ideal placement would be something to do with sports because that's my favourite subject in school but I knew I couldn't find somewhere and get a reply all in one night. The only placement I knew I could go without having to wait for a reply was with my mother! My mother works at Cardiff University in the Biochemistry Unit. I'm still not sure exactly what she does, but I think it's something along the lines of teaching and researching into cells. Before I knew it work experience had almost arrived. It was very tense around the house; I suppose I was excited because I didn't have a clue what I was going to be doing and also a little scared for the same reason. The first morning was pretty easy because I had no dress code, and as my mother is her own boss, I had no strict hours either. Also I didn't have to be polite around my mother, so I could just be my self. I was sort of expecting it to be boring working

My Work Experience.

My Work Experience Finally the day had come; our first day of our work experience, today was when we stepped out of our childish sugar coated world, into the harsh reality, of what is work. I woke up later than usual, the extra hour gave me more time to worry to what the day ahead is going to bring, happiness? Sadness? Exhaustion? This question ran through my head like a freight train, over and over again. The morning passed rather quickly without a word being spoken between my mum and me. Next minute I knew I was stepping out of my house into the miserable Monday morning weather. "Is this a sign of what's going happen today?" I pondered. On the way to my work experience I remembered the instructions they gave me, "Casual clothes, check, 9.00am start check" I murmured to myself. Everything was going according to plan, I glanced outside the window, to see a sea of confusion as the traffic jams hit the M4, as other people like me were on their way to work. "There it is" I said to myself "My home for the next week". We pulled up to the barrier where the guard came over to us. He was a pretty built man, with a balding patch on the crown of his head and a 70's moustache. My mum explained to him that I was here on work experience. "Ok, please write you name and who you are working with please" the guard ordered. I was passed a piece of paper on a clipboard with a pen attached
