Resources Available
It has been determined that the number of people it would take and the level of expertise needed have been acquired within the family. Dedra and Anthony will be doing most of the labor and Karen will be the supervisor. If at any time the family decides that they are not able to continue the project, then a professional should be consulted. If consultation is not sufficient to complete the project on time then Dedra will then meet with Karen and Anthony to discuss paying the consultant to help finish the project or changing the deadline of the project.
Fiscal Governance
In order to complete the project in a beneficial order, a budget will be assessed by Dedra. There are measures in order to stay within the allowed amount of funds. One measure is that many of the materials that are needed will be purchased at the Home for Habitat Store. This store has discounted prices; however, the inventory is not predictable. Materials will also be purchased at Home Depot and Lowe’s if either one of these issues arises:
- The price difference is less than a total of $5-10
- The Home for Habitat Store does not have enough of the item in stock
- The Home for Habitat Store does not carry the item, or
- The quality of the item is substantially better at Lowe’s or Home Depot.
Project Time Constraints
This project is scheduled to begin on January 2, 2012. The deadline to complete this project will be completed on February 2, 2012. Planning and acquiring materials will begin on January 2, 2012. All materials must be ordered or purchased by January 14th. This step includes finding the best price between the three retail locations and drafting a financial budget for the project that will be adhered to until the completion of Happy Feet.. January 21 will be the deadline for receiving all materials to the location Happy Feet will be taking course. The labor of clearing the room of furniture and removing the current flooring, and preparing the subsurface for the new flooring will begin no later than January 25 and will end by January 27th. Laying down the new flooring will then begin on January 28th so that the floor is completely dry. The laminate flooring will be installed by February 1st. On February 2nd, the morning will include clean up and trim work. The afternoon will include the wrap up and final pictures of the project completed to be taken for family photo album.
Implementation Plan Contingencies
In the event that the project can not stay within the budget, Karen will meet with Dedra and Anthony to find out how much more funds are needed and again determine a usable budget or delay end date for the project until more funds are available. If Anthony can not work on the project at any point, then Anthony Junior will be retained for assistance in the labor. If any tools should break or be found to be insufficient after the January 30th, Karen will go to Lowe’s and buy a replacement as soon as possible.
Materials
Herein describes the tools that will be needed to complete each step of the project. In order to find the lowest price, the necessary tools will be the cell phone and the computer with internet access. In order to clear furniture, Anthony will need a space that is at least 50 square feet by 9 feet in height for stacking the items until after the laminate is down. A furniture dolly is an acceptable tool to safely remove large pieces. Removing the carpet will require safety gloves, pliers, utility knife, pry bar, safety glasses, a vacuum, a hammer, and a floor scraper (HardwoodInstaller.Com, 2011). Cleaning the subfloor will require a broom, a vacuum, a mop, disinfectant cleaner, and a bucket. Laying down the laminate will require that flooring be bought, as well as the padding, a chop saw, a table saw, measuring tape, flooring mallet, carpenter’s pencils, a laminate flooring pull bar, and a tapping block (Smith, 2007). Trim work will necessitate purchasing the trim and nails as well as a nail gun. Finally, the clean up process will require laminate flooring cleaner and a dry mop.
