Examine the ways in which Richard (from Richard 3 by Shakespeare) manages to win Anne. Consider his success or failure.

Ryan Sabet Examine the ways in which Richard manages to win Anne. Consider his success or failure. Over all Richard has his way with twisting words and toying with people's emotion in order to get what he wants. In this case he was Anne and he changes her opinion of him to like him rather than to detest him. The first interaction that we see between Richard and Anne is when Richard enters the scene and tells the progression of the coffin to stop. At this point we then read how Anne feels towards Richard when she called him "the devil" and how "a soul thou canst not have" showing how at this point, she has no respect or feelings towards and considers him to be inhuman in her eyes. His first attempt at winning Anne over was when she said how wonderful when "devils tell the truth!" and he replies by saying how it is more wonderful "when angles are so angry" in an attempt to complement her and by asking her for a chance to explain himself and calling her "divine perfection of a woman". She feels differently and calls him "diffused infection of man". He then tries again to gain her good will when she asked if he killed the king and he accepts it, she sys how he (the king) was "gentle, mild, and virtuous" and he later goes onto say that the king should thank him for killing him as "he was fitter for that place earth." This showing how he way trying to make her see things in a

Of Mice and Men Film Analysis

Debra Wei Block B 21st September 2006. 'Of Mice and Men Film Study Analysis' Main Actors: Gary Sinise - George Milton John Malkcovich - Lennie Small Director: Gary Sinise Behind every admirable movie lies the diminutive details that really outstand the excellence of it. These details comprise a wide variety, such as structure, sound, camerawork, movements, etc. Though we might not perceive all these when we observe movies, our brain does absorb it and then furthermore combines it to create the grand effect in which we do recognize. For the first scene of 'Of Mice and Men', we studied it and broke it down to pieces. We realized that the structure of the scene was that it consisted of three sequences. The initial sequence took place in a train beginning with a melody of slow tempo, complementing the dragging and depressing sound it comprised. The camerawork focused the viewer on the opening credits, as it allowed a flare of light to creep in behind cracks every time a credit was displayed, drawing the audience's eyes to it. They were also contrasting colors, as the credits were in white and the background was deep in black and blue. The camera lens also zoomed in to a close up shot of George Milton's eyes, informing the audience that it would be his eyes we see the movie through, as well as he was deep in thought. The start of the following sequence was determined

Sample Personal Statement

Growing up the 2nd oldest in a house with six kids, being a military dependent, and traveling the world have shaped my life in indescribable ways. Constantly on the move, I have lived in 11 different houses and attended 5 different schools in 4 different countries. As the daughter of a career Army officer, I have become very accustomed to relocation and look forward to new adventures with enthusiasm. When people ask me where I am from, I have several answers. Ich bin von Deutschland. I was born in Germany and have lived there twice over the last 18 years. Germany has added an unconventional foundation to my upbringing because I went to a German public school for my first years of elementary education. I became fluent in the language and was imbued in the native culture. Becoming part of the local community, I made German ways part of my everyday life. I learned German songs, ate German food, and learned traditional dances at school. However, it didn't come easily. I remember refusing to speak German for several months, though my teachers confirmed for my parents that I could understand them; I just wouldn't speak. It seemed as if I was determined as a young seven-year-old to force all of Germany to become English speakers. At the six month mark, exhausted from my efforts, I finally spoke Deutsch. Before long, the locals could not even detect an accent and as far as

DEFINING EXISTENTIALISM

Defining Existentialism The goal of existentialists is to achieve individual authenticity, which includes deep contemplation of one's significance. One's significance, or essence, develops as the individual establishes and executes authentic beliefs. The individual defines his essence through continuous deliberation mentally, orally, and actively. Expression of opinion and taking action is necessary when affirming authentic beliefs. For instance, in the Japanese manga called Death Note by writer Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata , the main character, Light Yagami, establishes his own authentic beliefs as soon as he finds a mysterious notebook, known as the Death Note, lying on the ground. According to the Death Note's instructions, it claims that if a human's name is written within it, that person shall die. No longer skeptical after he experiments with the notebook and killing two criminals, Light resolves to cleansing the world of evil by killing more criminals to eventually create a utopia and reign over this new world as its god. Throughout the series, Light undergoes constant thought of his significance in the world and expresses this to the Death Note's demonic owner, Ryuk. After much debate, Light carries out his thoughts, his ultimate goal in this case, by writing criminals' names in the notebook. When an individual takes personal responsibility, the
